Any teachers out there? Ramping this back up again and figured I would advertise.

I am on the National Weather Service National School Outreach Team. We are composed of various NWS meteorologists across the country that give school talks about the weather. We can use just about any online platform.

Always exactly the ones you'd expect...
An ICE employee was among 16 men arrested after trying to solicit a minor for sex in Bloomington, Minnesota, police say

"When he was arrested, he said, 'I'm ICE, boys,'" Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges said during a press conference. "Well, unfortunately for him, we locked him up."

editors usually request cover art image submissions from authors or use stock imagery (journal publishers don't usually pay artists for cover art which is weird)

Tecumseh Fitch, the editor of this special issue, chose to generate AI slop instead. He should know better
AI slop gracing the cover of Royal Society B. Not only in AI yellow but scientifically nonsensical. Come on. I'm certain human photographs and artworks were ignored to platform ... this.

I wonder what faculty hired 60+ years ago would think about modern faculty being told (often in their contracts) they had to publish minimum 1, 2, or more papers per year

This. Every “very smart bad man” has driven dozens of women (many of whom were smarter) out of academia.
And let’s think of all the people that were driven out of academia by them…
"nooo, their papers are good, you can't be mad at them for being creeps"

first all, no they are not, and second of all, yes we can

If you’re anxious about the aurora because “we didn’t use to have the Northern Lights this far south,” don’t be!

The sun’s just doing a normal solar cycle like usual. We just now have cameras in our pocket that can detect aurora, and social media to spread the word to get out looking!
