1. It's shutdown day, and anti-trans provisions are on the line... either today, or in a few more weeks if a clean continuing resolution passes.

Trump posted a video this morning blaming a shutdown on trans people and immigrants.

Here is your shutdown guide.

The MSNBC commentator saying that most political violence has historically come from the left just once again showed how we suffer from failing to learn history. Lynching, pogroms, race riots, the political violence that ended Reconstruction, and against the Civil Rights Movement. Come on.

Today, the Trump administration is releasing a fake "report" about gender affirming care created by quacks so they can restrict access to care. It's going to be completely unscientific and unhinged and shouldn't be a afforded one iota of credibility.

Absolutely fuck everyone involved in this show. They know. They all know. It's impossible not to at this point.

Lithgow had a CLOSE FRIEND reach out and try and get how awful this is through to him and he's more than happy to take the role and is "curious" to meet Rowling.

Absolute fucking scum.
Lithgow confirms he hates trans people: "following the announcement, he received a text from a 'very good friend' who is the mother of a trans child [asking him to leave the show]... As for whether the criticism has soured the role for him, Lithgow replied, “Oh, heavens no.”

It’s so important that this story is being told - a truly terrible thing happened to Becky and people need to know. It’s also important to emphasise that every person who ended up at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea, or crossing the Darien Gap, or in a detention centre is somebody’s Becky.
- 32,809 have been arrested by Ice during Trump 2.
- German tourist Jessica Brösche spent more than a month in detention, including eight days in solitary confinement, suffering one of the worst human rights violations
- Rebecca Burke (UK) was trying to leave but was detained for 19 (!) days
I was a British tourist trying to leave America. Then I was detained, shackled and sent to an immigration detention centre
Graphic artist Rebecca Burke was on the trip of a lifetime. But as she tried to leave the US she was stopped, interrogated and branded an illegal alien by ICE. Now back home, she tells others thinking...

At some point in the future (TBD), I have to go to CO for a surgery regarding compression of veins in my neck. I can't fly. We'll have to drive from MN to CO. Last time I had surgery, my carotid artery was severed. I was in the ICU in a medical coma for three days. The travel scares me more.
6. Erin in the Morning has released an updated trans risk assessment map based on domestic anti-trans policies, such as bathroom bans, as well as policies for international travelers as revealed in recent Marco Rubio cables.

Anti-Trans National Risk Assessment Map: March Edition
At the two-month mark of Donald Trump's presidency, the risk for transgender people has deteriorated nationwide. The United States now carries a "Do Not Travel" rating for transgender people.

This after Elon Musk and others poured millions into anti-transgender advertisements in the state.

The anti-trans panic failed in Wisconsin.

This is a major victory for LGBTQ+ people in the state.

A lot of events are scheduled in the evening, which makes sense re: work hours but also makes them functionally inaccessible for parents, especially moms, who often get stuck with disproportionate childcare responsibility. Free childcare in activist spaces is critical for accessibility and equity.
Providing childcare at events is a particularly huge help, especially if you're experienced and/or licensed.
I’ve witnessed:
-video game streaming as a fundraiser
-giving a lot of money and quickly
-masking and air purifier building and teaching others how
-dealing with red tape and labyrinthine phone trees for people
-being patient but not a doormat
-giving free haircuts
-providing childcare at events

bathroom bills were considered a hugely bigoted overreach a decade ago and the backsliding on trans rights is the result of a sustained propaganda campaign by elites

the pendulum can swing back the other way if you try, and anyone who is not willing to do so is showcasing their own bigotry
the thing about “democrats should take popular cultural positions” is that what constitutes popular is a function of an interaction between the public and elites. if a faction of elites start screaming about a vulnerable minority and another faction says they have a point, this shapes the public.
In a leaked recording, State Senator Elena Parent (D-42) said she’d vote for Republican transgender healthcare bans because trans rights are too “unpopular."

"You can go right to heck. I don’t think I will lose re-election based on you screaming at me"
