California shut down its last coal plant last week and nobody even noticed, it made so little little difference.

Meanwhile solar is up 17% and gas is down 17% from 2024. I have a few highlights... www.climatecoloredgoggles.com/p/ding-dong-...
Ding dong, coal is dead
At least in California.

LADWP finally turned off its last coal powerplant. The last one of any significance providing power to California.
Something to be thankful for!

Utah's largest coal-fired power plant—the Intermountain Power Project, located in the west desert near Delta and serving southern California—stopped burning coal at mid-day on Wednesday, just in time for Thanksgiving. 🔌💡

THIS, from @awalkerinla.bsky.social:

"These city officials who come to the press conferences and tootle around on a bike for a few hours then climb into their SUVs to drive home need to be asked, repeatedly, what they're doing to make car-free streets an everyday amenity, not an anomaly."

As awesome as the Netflix-sponsored Ciclavia was, @awalkerinla.bsky.social writes: "We could let Netflix pay for a throwback fantasy of a walking and biking city one day out of the year. Or we could actually fund streets that give our kids a shot at a future."

nuzzi / lizza misconduct imo enabled the destruction of so much public health & scientific research — and a resurgence in measles in the US. this is not petty tabloid gossip or inside baseball. that they went undetected or were rewarded while great reporters were laid off? it’s a huge system failure
