Research supports that biking contributes to a longer life and better mental health. Lower all-cause mortality risk, lower risk of any hospitalization, lower risk of cardiovascular disease, lower risk of cancer mortality and better mental health.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is quietly eliminating the at-grade boulevard options (A and B) from the Rethinking I-94 project. This move, rushed before the holidays, deprives communities of a chance to explore a transformative alternative to the highway trench. 🧵(1/9)

After a big snow, some cities plow bike paths, some don't.

Minnetonka plows the snow from the road INTO bike paths.

This 3' tall pile is impossible to bike over with my cargo bike. Prior to the plows coming, it was slow but manageable.

Figuring out a message for our holiday cards was a tough one this year. "'Looking forward to a great 20...' no. 'Hope next year is the best yet...' no. Uh."

We went with a Vonnegut quote. "“A purpose of human life, no matter who is controlling it, is to love whoever is around to be loved.”

The Grateful Dead is a gateway drug to bluegrass, y'all.

There's a Dead --> Pizza Tapes --> Old and In The Way --> J.D Crowe and the New South --> Reno and Smiley pipeline.

You start with Truckin' and end up on the hard stuff.

You can only have two:

- Unchanging physical neighborhood character

- Housing affordability

- Economic prosperity
Neighborhood character complaints, complaints about infrastructure, complaints it doesn't do enough to boost home ownership, said one (Ariola): "We don't want the character of our neighborhoods to change, but we do want affordability."

The Kendrick/Drake feud explained for white ppl: it's "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" with Drake as the Devil and America as Georgia.

Now you can stop bragging about being totally ignorant and can start enjoying Kendrick getting his Golden Fiddle.

Increasingly bright headlights on newer autos make the driver feel safer by increasing their visibility, yet blind everyone else, which makes the roads less safe.

This is just one example of how Americans have increasingly abandoned the idea of collective good in favor of individual comfort.
