Valve has now rejected my complaint, confirming that "I don't like muslims" is a valid reason to leave a negative review on a game on Steam

This is where we're at now.

I don't think I ever saw any marketing for it. I remember seeing a couple journos responding to a press release with complete disinterest and disdain, but otherwise I didn't even know it came out.

Amazon keep trying to sell me cat scratching posts I ALREADY OWN on Twitch, but not their own games!?

A concurrent player count of 100,000? For something not part of an established series? Advertised on a youtube channel mostly watched by tweens aka people who don't have their own money, and has had a few unsuccessful business ventures beyond his primary grift? In what world?!

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

The producers pushing AI dubs are *absolutely* gonna try again. The tech will improve. It will be important for fans to make their voices heard when--not if--but *when* that happens.

As this video says, it'll be important for us to tell AI, "Stay in your lane."
Another excellent video about AI and the broader problems beyond just "it sounds bad lol."

There is really no pedagogical explanation for this activity. Why not have the student draw an image themselves? I really hate how tech has been added unnecessarily to so many aspects of education - with no real consideration of its value.

Three important facts about this: 1) LAUSD’s own policy states that students under 13 are not allowed to use gen AI tools, and yet they have enabled access on student devices, 2) If you ask which AI tools are being used and how they’re vetted, they won’t tell you, and 3) Parents can’t opt out.

These stories have existed for the entire history of comics. Creators deserve a stake in characters they create (yes even legacy characters).

Also design work in comics is very often treated as an 'invisible' part of the page rate. That's $0 earned to create a new character from scratch -
