Part of the issue is a bedrock refusal to accept the fact the people who wanted to defund the police were correct and political elites refused to address their claims. They want to make that a grassroots rather than elite failure which is why they point to Pelosi/Clinton/Biden as representative.

The better plan would be to make sure it’s with someone who can get it to a lawyer.
It’s not a shield - the feds will just toss papers they don’t like. It also makes people who don’t have passports into targets, which is the opposite of what ppl want to be doing.

begging people to drop the notion that there are “bad” deportable people and it’d be ok if the state just focused on them. we’ve seen the state describe as violent assault on officers a white man throwing a sandwich at one and a white woman slowly steering her car away from another
So Tom Homan (ICE director) just said instead of ICE going around taking people from the street, the jails are going to notify ICE when they have a violent inmate who was found to be an undocumented immigrant so ICE can arrest them in jail. WHY DIDNT THEY DO THAT TO BEGIN WITH!? SMH

The only thing one can conclude is that none of the people who ran the intervening administrations ever had any problem with this behavior - or that they were content to use it as influence, rather than create consequences and stop it.
