Update: Tornado warning now. We're all in the basement. Still fine.
Update: yup, definitely sirens and a touchdown to the west of us. We're fine so far.
Pretty sure I just heard a tornado siren

Polisci finds elite cues play major role shaping mass opinion. Dan Gillion’s book, The Loud Minority, suggests another pathway: protests also serve as an informative cue to members of allied coalition. So, even if overall opinion is mixed, a key thing to watch is opinion among Dems over time.

I've spent four months looking at AI spam on Facebook. I've messaged hundreds of people commenting on the bizarre images trying to determine if they are real, and to understand what's happening.

Facebook isn't the "Dead Internet." It's something worse:

Facebook’s AI Spam Isn’t the ‘Dead Internet’: It’s the Zombie Internet

If it helps, there is not a city or state where I expect the govt or the cops to protect me. And yet, I must exist somewhere.
friendly reminder especially to white people that you don’t have to write off entire cities or states because of shitty governments and police departments. instead, you could try to remember that actual people also live in these places and many are organizing to make life better for their community!

I cannot overstate how dangerous to free speech and a healthy democracy it is to redefine all anti-Zionism and criticism of the state of Israel as antisemitism. You know who's loudly critical of Zionism and the Israeli govt? Jews. A lot of Jews.

The GOP-led Antisemitism Awareness Act mandates the Department of Education to use contested definition of antisemitism.
