I can’t believe I just got cursed by a fortune cookie.
An entire iced coffee was knocked onto the carpet, and I’m devastated by the loss of caffeine.

There are flurries? But it’s 57° (13C) out???

I’m used to seeing snow at ~40° (4C), but this is bizarre. Lake effect is wild.

Finished reading Hello Sunshine by @keezyyoung.bsky.social

Beautiful art; great use of differing color palettes. The story is sad, creepy, loving, hopeful; presents a refreshingly compassionate view of mental illness.

Reading this while holding my sleeping infant son made it hit all the harder. 💛

Just saw a fireball over the Niagara area. Bright white, heading directly away from me, so seemed to go straight down.
Unfortunately, it was through a window, so I couldn’t see the beginning or end of it. But, on the amsmeteor site, there are several reports of the same one, which is neat.

It’s so nice that the dumb “AI” garbage always has a little ✨ icon so you can immediately know it’s useless nonsense.

Like, my Google tv is now trying to show ✨viewer reviews of movies✨, but it’s instead showing restaurant reviews??

Covid vaccines *are* approved for ages 6 months and up. Moderna and Pfizer have made pediatric doses. These doses have shipped to providers who ordered them. Children have gotten them and insurance should cover them. They exist!

But finding a provider who has them in stock can be really difficult.

when you have bandaids you offer them to a kid who has fallen off his bike and walk him home. when a little girl waves at you and says hi you better fucking wave back, man. we live in the world with children and we don't get to pretend we have no duty towards them

Discovering computer as an adult makes you go crazy. Discovering computer as a baby makes you go crazy. In all of human history, there will only ever be one generation to discover computer at the correct age: 13
The problem with every post-Millennial generation is they got to go straight to high speed internet. Of course you'll get computer madness that way. Make them start with those old screeching modems and work their way up

Hello. I wrote a nice long essay about AI and this very strange moment where we're constantly told we're living in the dawn of a strange new future but the only thing that's actually clear is that everyone feels pretty unmoored and uncertain. I hope you'll read it
AI Is a Mass-Delusion Event
Three years in, one of AI’s enduring impacts is to make people feel like they’re losing it.

One of my favorite things about living in an apartment is having to wait until the neighbours (one of whom doesn’t get home until after midnight) are asleep before putting the baby down to sleep, otherwise I’ll be up even longer *and* have an upset baby.
