As paraphrased from Gustav Mahler's second symphony (fifth movement):

"You were not born for no reason.

You have not lived for nothing.

Nor suffered in vain.

What has lived must also perish

What has perished shall rise again."

All you have to do is give the most basic-ass software a text UI with conversational rather than technical language and people will jump through whatever hoops they need to in order to convince themselves it's alive and talking to them. It's that easy.

The problem with describing classic works of philosophy as "challenging" is it doesn't capture the distinction between those that are legitimately arcane, and those that are talking about something a middle schooler could grasp but keep circling the point like the author's getting paid by the word.

Hero calls the villain's henchperson their "lapdog"; villain gets annoyed at the lack of precision, starts lecturing the hero about different working dog roles and constructing complex parallels for what specific kind of working dog the henchperson would be in the analogy the hero has introduced.

Regardless of your feelings on the shooting, there's no doubt that Trump didn't need it to continue enacting mass political violence against the civilian population.

Political violence is committed every day against protestors, immigrants, and trans people, and they rarely get any justice.
I'm genuinely confused at so much of my feed being filled with "Don't celebrate Charlie Kirk being shot **because** this gives Trump the go ahead to violently crush opposition." Did you mean to add "faster" to the end of that sentence? Like, he wasn't waiting for an impetus. It's happening already

Politicians and rich people only condemn violence as "political" when it kills someone rich and famous.

When trans people are targeted for violence by the state or by right wing influencers, when immigrants are racially profiles and put in camps, when protestors are brutalized, that's just normal.

I’m wanting to do more short slice-of-life, stream-of-consciousness comics & I’m trying to feel out a design/style for it. It’s remarkably hard.

All you people with canine sonas or lightly marked sonas have no idea how good you’ve got it in the cartooning department.

(1/2) Honestly, facile deconstructions of niche genres don't bother me in and of themselves. Like, yeah, they're not a quarter as clever as they think they are, but even deconstruction benefits form having entry-level media available; SOMETHING has gotta by Baby's First Meta Fuckery.

(2/2) No, the real trouble is when somebody who's literally never seen an undeconstructed example of the genre in question decides they've got something important to say.

A fact that's always stood out to me when talking about firearms and frontline communities/movements is that Thurgood Marshall was, while traveling for civil rights cases, guarded by a team of veterans with literal machine guns. And that was the more legalistic side of the movement.
