This advice has made me drop a bunch of games and every time it has felt like a weight i didn't know was there had been lifted. Always ask yourself "am I playing this because i want to, or because I am worried ill miss something/a purchase I made was a waste of money if i dont play it more"
Genuinely, as someone who plays several live service games I always have a checklist that's like
- Ask yourself if you're having fun
- Never have a "forever game", play or read or do other stuff alongside it
- Don't set paid subs to auto-renew
- Think about what you want, not what the game wants
