A 50-year mortgage to solve the fact that no one can buy a home seems like the kind of idea a man who bankrupted a bunch of casinos would come up with.

Tapped out on Deadwood. Midway through season 2. I know the racism is historically accurate but nothing about hearing white people say the n-word that many times in one episode is a form of entertainment to me.

The new language replaces that limit with a cap applying to total THC, including delta-8, delta-10, and any other cannabinoid with intoxicating effects. It would also prohibit any hemp-derived cannabinoid that is manufactured outside the plant’s natural processes.

Hemp-derived THC products have proliferated across the U.S. following the legalization of hemp via the 2018 farm bill.
The measure would rewrite the federal definition of legal hemp.
That law allowed hemp to contain up to 0.3% delta-9 THC on a dry-weight basis.

The proposal would effectively recriminalize a wide range of hemp-derived products by capping total THC content at just 0.4 milligrams per product, a threshold that would outlaw most items currently sold in gas stations, convenience stores, and online marketplaces.

Husband officially hates his job.
I’m afraid of an impending mass exodus that’s going to very soon make me hate my job.
Lots of folks in my feed out of work, underemployed, can’t get hired, crowdfunding to make ends meet.
There’s gotta be a better way.

This new Katy Perry song is at least listenable (which is a shame that this is the rubric now), but I’m not itching to hear it again.

Did you know that in Canada, if a budget doesn’t pass the government doesn’t shut down?
Federal workers aren’t furloughed.
Funding for social services doesn’t dry up.
Failure to pass a budget triggers an election.
It puts the politicians jobs on the line.
They get the budget passed.

Truly amazing that any time the democrats have to bite the bullet and do something that ruins countless lives, there's always *just* enough votes to get it done, but if there is a vote on something that would actually improve people's lives, they are always one vote short. Crazy how that happens.

This is functionally identical to how Murkowski and Collins were coincidentally allowed to vote against particularly heinous Trump nominees only when there were enough guaranteed ‘yes’ votes for it to not matter. Senate leaders of both parties know how to count to 60.

if you genuinely think Schumer and Democratic leadership opposed this & Republicans coincidentally got exactly the number of votes they needed to avoid a filibuster and none of those votes are from Democratic Senators who are up for reelection in the midterms next year, I have a bridge to sell you.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.
Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.

you can’t be the prodemocracy party and then fib to prevent the public from knowing what position your members of Congress actually took in order to shield them from accountability to voters.
Doesn’t matter that Schumer voted “no”. He got the Dem caucus on board with caving. THEN the caucus figured out who should vote yes to provide cover for D Sens up for reelection in 2026, who might have been in serious danger of being primaried. 2/
