Lotta dumb white people look at privilege as a point of shame instead of what it really is: leveraging social cache responsibly, such as hurling a hoagie at a cop and not getting murdered.

whites supremacy isn’t mostly people in white hoods or proud boys. it’s mostly this belief that the mere act of being white imbues superiority upon you; that white people should have first, best or only access to every good, opportunity & privilege has to offer before anybody else gets anything.

Republicans in Congress have structured the most painful benefit cuts in their budget bill to kick in AFTER the 2026 midterms.

But the tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy? Those begin immediately.

Remember this.

the great mistake we made after WW2 was letting way way too many Nazi party members live.

Feeling overwhelmed at the lawlessness? Get involved locally. Concrete, real-world resistance to fascism in your own community is better for you than doomscrolling.

A 🧵thread on why increasing numbers of young people (especially men) are being captured by the right, by being wooed away from conventional career paths in favour of fast-track wealth schemes that claim to offer an escape from the 'matrix.'

Some people truly have no idea how anything happens in the streets. They see photos and they approve or disapprove of the aesthetics. But they understand NOTHING.

As someone who lives in Los Angeles, don’t let social or mainstream media gaslight you into thinking there’s a violent uprising taking place here. The Trump administration is trying to punish this state and this city. He’s also setting a precedent to unleash troops on Democratic cities.

I know you aren't going to want to hear this but the reason the system can deport Mahmoud Khalil and send Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador is that for years we've been executing factually innocent people like Marcellus Williams and sending legally innocent people to places like Riker's Island.

1/4. On the White House’s theory, if they abduct you, get you on a helicopter, get to international waters, shoot you in the head, and drop your corpse into the ocean, that is legal, because it is the conduct of foreign affairs.

They only have to detain, deport, or disappear a quite small critical mass of people for the chilling effects of authoritarianism to spread throughout the entire population.

It doesn’t have to happen to you to change your behavior and your world entirely.

Second, the ‘threat’ of wokeness was a media fiction. Conservative and centrist publications spent years promoting ‘free speech on campus’ and ‘cancel culture’ as threats equivalent to the right’s assaults on democracy and minority rights.

First, the activist ‘overreach’ mostly consisted of low-stakes, cherry-picked anecdotes. The police were not defunded. Words were not banned. White men were not barred from college.

The backlash is responding to the *possibility* of social change, not actual change.

Mona Eltahawy always walks about the trifecta of misogyny: the street, the state and the home. So where is this purported escape that we can just turn off?

This Autism Acceptance Month I would love for everyone to accept when people openly stim because self-regulation rocks!

I understand the initial discomfort if there's hand flapping at the grocery store because it isn't often witnessed & hasn't been culturally acceptable...until now.

accept it plz!
“Stimming had a SIGNIFICANT POSITIVE impact on autistic adults’ self-rated self-efficacy”

“Results CONTRADICT the negative view often expressed suggesting that stimming should be eradicated”

“Stimming has a POSITIVE effect and SUPPORTS autistic individuals’ ability to COPE with difficulties”
