perfect is the enemy of good and demanding perfect RCTs for annual flu shots = no flu shots
If new proposals detailed in an FDA memo are put into place, experts told me it would mean the end of annual flu shots. And end of most vaccines for pregnant people. And maybe the end of updates to pneumonia vaccines. And more.

I wrote about how no one knows for sure what's going to end this nightmare, but the possibilities are expanding, and we can help them along. Includes some thoughts on the Hola Massacre, the Falklands War, and Watergate (because extrajudicial killing, an unprovoked war, and presidential impeachment).

So work breaks allow my brain to remember that I like to read. This means I only have ~5 times a year when I binge/catch up. One of the books I'm returning to for fun rather than work or development is Mage: Ascension. I've never finished reading it since buying a copy at HBP a few years back.

one insidious thing about gen AI is it's not just causing us to mistrust dodgy images, it's also making us mistrust images that look perfectly normal. this is gaslighting in a very literal sense bc the technology is undermining the trust we have in our own ability to perceive reality!
