Check out my new article in @inquest.bsky.social about the prosecution of Luigi Mangione.
"The charges against [Mangione] make clear that the criminal legal system’s response to murder has everything to do with who is murdered—and who does the murdering." Political scientist @ch4rlotte.bsky.social on the workings of racial capitalism.
Making an Example of Luigi Mangione - Charlotte Boucher - Inquest
The criminal legal system aims to send a message by massively overcharging him: it will defend racial capitalism above all else.

Trump just ordered his secret police to arrest anyone who burns the flag and imprison them for a year. Stephen Miller just issued new threats to arrest leftists.

Every time the fascism escalates, the logic should be that Dem resistance stiffens, as Sen Chris Murphy says in our pod discussion:
Everyone should listen to Chris Murphy's extraordinary warning about Trump on our pod. First, he says the logic must be that the more lawless he gets, the stiffer the resistance.

"If I give in and consent to these kinds of tactics then it just normalizes it all." 1/

There is no world in which masked and armed agents of the state running down delivery drivers makes us safer. That our information environment and political leaders have convinced people otherwise is a massive failure.

Tonight's dinner was Chicken Tahitian (frozen oj concentrate, soy sauce, ginger) over rice, chicken, and kale, with homemade bruschetta (feta instead of moz). Dessert was an angel food cake with coconut cookie (homemade).

Geothermal technology relies on a pump system to tap into the earth in order to cool structures on warmer days and to heat them during colder weather.
MTA Searches Underground for Ways to Cool Sweltering Stations
The transit agency may use geothermal technology to combat high temperatures as the number of yearly heat waves is projected to more than triple by the 2050s.

It's been a while. Today: worked; made progress in my physical therapy; made soup; got a friend's published ttrpg in the mail; saw ballroom dancing and a fruit bat at the library; bought produce from a community event; enjoyed peanut butter powder in my vanilla ice cream. What's your day like?

The exhausting thing is we had Noah Wyle give the "big bag of money" speech in LEVERAGE:REDEMPTION to point out how morally bankrupt and ridiculous this concept of corruption is, had multiple audience members say "Wait, that can't be right OH MY GOD WHAT?" and this national reporter is 😀 👍.
Corruption requires explict quid pro quo. It is not corrupt to take an action that aligns with the interest of a person who gives you a gift, unless the official action was in direct response to that gift--a bribe. Terms matter. Accuracy and fairness matters. Regardless of what social media wants.

Do you need a passport? This is a poll tax to have to get one to vote.
It’s critical yall understand why MAGAs are so hell bent on passing the SAVE Act. They’re suppressing women’s votes for a very particular reason. We cannot let them win.

Well. Women’s suffrage was nice while it lasted.

We told you that EVERY attack against trans women was a back door to also attack cis women. But terfs are obsessed with other peoples junk so now we loose the right to vote. Thanks @gavinnewsom.bsky.social ! Fuck terfs forever. This is on you.
Call your Senators NOW to prevent this passing.

Maybe remind them that when people lose the ability to have a voice in their own lives their only recourse tends to involve guillotines.
🚨 By a vote of 220-208, the House has PASSED HR 22 the SAVE Act that will strip voting rights away for millions of Americans.

All Republicans voted YES as well as 4 Democrats:
Jared Golden (D-ME)
Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA)
Henry Cuellar (D-TX)
Ed Case (D-HI)

The bill now moves to the Senate.
