Pinned
I gotta pin my formerly pinned tweet here because I genuinely think about it a lot; I wrote this down as soon as he said it at the Pulp doc premiere in L.A., and still try to keep it in mind when making anything.
Who came first, these guys or Complete? Always loved the singer from Complete's vocal style, which I can only describe as "jumping out of an airplane/falling down a well in a cartoon":

I think about this in how the guy who ran MySpace sold his company and then traveled the world doing photography, while the guy who runs Facebook never let it go and has gone out of his way to destroy democracy in order to gain more power.
The desperate need to accumulate more and more at the cost of everyone else’s wellbeing should be classified as a mental disorder, and I will absolutely die on this hill.
Guillermo del Toro on wealth: "a wealthy man is a man who has enough, not a man that needs more. If you have enough to invite someone for a beer? You're rich. If you have a yacht, planes, islands, and you still need more? You're not rich."

it's @bandcamp Friday. it's a great day to support independent musicians and a great day to pick up one of the remaining copies of Neighborhood Gods Unlimited on vinyl or cassette because streaming services don't care if we LIVE OR DIE

If you like R.E.M. I can't stress enough how fun it is to see these guys play the hell out of the IRS era songs and Shannon channels Stipe so well - get on this, it's so fun and you can count on R.E.M. never touring again

My students, who attend a working-class rust-belt college, openly talk abt how much they hate AI & are afraid of its consequences. I wonder how much of the oft-reported student enthusiasm for the tech is the merely result of the NYT’s Ivy League bias

FOLKS - coming back to Ireland and the UK next month in a strange but amazing way…
From Jason Narducy, Michael Shannon & Friends: “We are excited to play Fables of the Reconstruction where it was recorded (London) and beyond. This is our first tour playing R.E.M. songs outside the U.S. Joining us on bass for UK/IRL shows will be our extremely talented friend, Ted Leo”

As a child, I was told by many cartoons & comics that we would have future robots to do the boring-ass chores like dishes & laundry so we could spend that time reading & writing & watching movies & listening to/making music & thinking & pondering INSTEAD. It sucks so much we got the OPPOSITE of that
