This is where I always ask: Tell me about one example of a government service being privatized, and offering the same or better service for less cost. Just one example.
Response: <crickets>
Ok, hate me for it, but I'm calling out "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" as a pretty mediocre song. Stan Rogers kicks Lightfoot's ass.

2) Vaccine production should be public knowledge, not a corporate secret.
3) They're already getting 100s of millions from the government.

Bluesky suspended Sarah Kendzior today for no reason whatsoever. She just shared excerpts of her articles, which were as always incisive and not offensive at all. Hey @pfrazee.com this is super not OK. I know her- we've interacted a fair bit via chats and her work is essential.

We need to talk about how Trump's whole obsession with tariffs is based off his fake nonsense understanding of economics, he has never known what a tariff is, he just sees it as in his arsenal of punishment. But please stop calling him insane because insane people are way cooler.

Time was, if you were cheap, or poor, and needed car tires, you could buy "recaps", a tire that had lost all of it's tread and had a new one bonded on.
Radial tires ended the practice.

A fantastic 🇨🇦 civics lesson from thread-master and panda, @tim4hire.bsky.social
IMO, the (usually) annual Budget process is a bit of a misnomer. What we refer to as a Budget is not an actual breakdown of how the government will spend its money. Rather, it is more of a major policy document, albeit policies that primarily involve changes to spending or revenues.
