Montreal’s cycling community showed up today in some pretty awful weather to defend one of the most important bike projects in the city.

The 18 km Henri-Bourassa corridor, under construction, was threatened by the newly-elected borough mayor.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed 4 years ago. In new research @urbaninstitute.bsky.social we study its effects.

US transport spending increased by 30%, but:
—Funding for non-highway projects flatlined
—Construction cost increases resulted in no actual increase in infrastructure
Federal Infrastructure Spending on Transportation, Four Years after the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act

Short version:

Trump: I'm dismantling the Constitution, building a paramilitary fascist army loyal only to me, blowing up the US economy for my billionaire cronies, and destroying the planet.

Worth remembering: both WSJ, after Trump sued for $10bn over (true) Epstein stories, and NYT, after Trump sued for $15bn over (true) corruption reports, have stood up strong.

Facts and law on their side. Beyond that, they're not "obeying in advance." Sure, gripes. But their example matters.

I'm horrified to hear that Charlie Kirk was shot at an event in Utah.

Democratic societies will always have political disagreements, but we must never allow America to become a country that confronts those disagreements with violence.

Mark and I are praying for Charlie's recovery.
