Appalling. I noticed this immediately. And the NYT page website buried it low in the front page. I will wait to see how the print version looks.
Seriously, cancel your NYT subscription if you haven’t already. It’s garbage. The crossword and games aren’t worth supporting this.
The NYT app the morning after the biggest wave of protest rallies in America in a generation

They buried the story between other headlines, opting not to use a photo too.

Are Democrats working on a Project 2026 and Project 2028? They had better be doing those. Failure would be dereliction of duty.

I offer this teaching video to Ron De Santis and his Florida teachers for their “classical” curriculum gender lessons. Watch to the end. This is a second century CE Roman copy of a second century BCE Greek original.

Interesting idea actually
Suggestion: A strike of musicians, writers, hosts, actors, lighting, electricians--everyone, shutting down all TV studios, until Jimmy Kimmel is reinstated.

This is the kind of action we need, instead of sitting around just waiting to be gutted.

I have never heard of anyone getting offended because someone shared MLK’s or Lincoln’s or FDR’s words online. Weird to be offended when your hero is simply being quoted.

I've followed the F-35 story for almost two decades.

This is a humiliating setback that would have been impossible to imagine—back before an ignorant prez and a vengeful MAGA began humiliating what had been the closest and most reliable (previous) US allies.
And Portugal announces they are buying French jets rather than F-35s. Great idea to send Vance and Don Jr on a scouting mission as a precursor to a Greenland takeover.

This video is 100% worth watching.

Could be straight out of Red Guards at nadir of China's nihilist Cultural Revolution.

"What you are saying is illegal, because it goes against the views of Our President."

Remember when today's MAGA fans professed to bleed and die for cause of "free speech"?
Things are all just worse now, but this does remind me of the time parents of a kid in my eighth grade world history course tried to get the teacher fired for teaching us that Jesus was Jewish.
Student, to professor: "I'm not entirely sure this is legal to be teaching, because according to our president there's only two genders... and I don't want to promote something that is against our president's laws as well as against my religious beliefs" www.kbtx.com/2025/09/09/a...

If only his two former bosses had not been totally invisible in fall 2024, when loudly & publicly telling people that reluctantly voting for the Democrat was the only democratic option left for lifelong, pro-democracy Republican voters might have made a difference.

Cost of Trump's D.C. Occupation: $1.1M per day.

Cost to operate public housing for D.C.'s entire homeless population: $169,226 per day.

It's not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

A major obstacle for folks attempting to defend democracy is that a perfectly accurate description of what Trump is attempting sounds like hysterical conspiracy theorizing to a lot of people. We default to “c’mon, that can’t happen here”—which is exactly why it can.

1. This week, the FBI released its comprehensive crime report for 2024, which revealed that both VIOLENT CRIME and PROPERTY CRIME reached their LOWEST LEVELS SINCE THE 1960s

This a massive story. But you might not have heard about it, even if you follow the news closely.

Here's why.
Why you might not know that 2024 was America's safest year since the 1960s
An overwhelming majority of Americans, 64 percent, believe that crime increased across the country in 2024, according to a Gallup survey conducted late last year.
