Any media person who blames "our divisive politics" for the current shutdown is doing a favor for the Republicans who refuse to negotiate with Democrats to end it.

Even if the Republican controlled federal government had allowed the $6 billion contingency reserve to be used to fund SNAP benefits it wouldn’t have been enough to completely fund SNAP

Let that sink in, The Trump administration made a conscious choice to starve millions of Americans.
"For every meal that a food bank provides, the SNAP program provides nine. There's no way we can meet that gap. There's no way we can replace every single one of those meals. It is not sustainable for food banks to fill this gap. We were not built to do this."

Reclusive oligarch Tim Mellon just gave $130 million, supposedly to pay the troops during the shutdown. Weird, huh? We should also note that his father Paul’s name appears in the Epstein files (with trafficking victims only referred to by their gender) and that his bank Mellon BNY was recently sued

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 84th day out of the last 96.

12 days of work in over 3 months.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.
