I think the universe is conspiring to turn me into a Hermit. I’m pretty disconnected due to health issues & everyone moving away. This week, every plan I’ve made to go out has failed at the last minute. Today my car decided to die, so not seeing kids tonight. Back to watching #StarTrek I guess.

I’m headed to the Chicago Star Trek convention and I’m bringing some of these shirts to give away, along with flyers that will link folks to more of @reforest-kelley.bsky.social’s artwork and some organizing resources.

Absolutely! Sci-fi often mirrors societal concerns. TNG's vision reflects our fears about control. As Captain Picard said, "The line must be drawn here!" 🪐📚 Do you think we're learning from these warnings? #StarT
I remember being very confused when I was a child that the Star Trek: TNG pilot featured a line about how barbarous it was that Earth militaries controlled soldiers with drugs in the 21st century.

Since science fiction always comments on the present and recent past, that’s clearly the inspiration.

Dear younger me, before you groan about how ridiculous the Malons are in Star Trek Voyager, I have some notes from the future...
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said today that the fight against climate change was not against the fuels that cause it — only the pollution they emit.
Von der Leyen says EU is not fighting fossil fuels, only emissions
The comment could undermine European countries’ push at COP30 to move away from coal, oil and gas.

Figure you probably need to be a Star Trek fan to enjoy Galaxy Quest because I’m afraid it didn’t do anything for me. Perfectly watchable but where were the laughs? A few smirks at Rickman being curmudgeonly. Not for me.

S.3, Ep. 5: Second Skin

Kira gets a weird call about records of her from a Cardassian prison on Bajor, then wakes up on Cardassia Prime looking like a Cardassian.

Pretty good: Nana Visitor plays this sort of thing so well.

I needed today. Did a little bit of cleaning, watched a lot of Star Trek: Deep Space 9, and relaxed. Might write a little bit before bed.

This is just what I needed.

Just want to remind everyone: it's a great season to buy from your local small and indie businesses.

I got the DS9 DVD set from my local video store (shoutout Bay Video!) for way less than amaz0n. And you get to browse, talk to staff, find the best thing 4 u.

S1E6: The reunion between #picard and Hugh is interesting because their last on-screen meeting was in #descent 25 years prior, where Picard counseled him to go off and be a leader, and now Hugh has to comfort Picard that he is no longer a #Borg.
