alright let’s get something more pleasant going. what two books would you leave out on your coffee table so a reporter can mention you have them. doesn’t matter if you’ve read them. for me it’s Pale Fire (which I did read) and Ulysses (got like 15% of the way in)

This is one of the most endangered mammals in the world – there are fewer than 400 alive in the wild right now – so it is pretty special to watch this mom and her two pups emerge from their burrow. Kids will be kids, no matter how rare your species!

“Booo!”? Vancouver Island marmots have a unique vocalization we call a “keaw.” It appears to be a special call between parents and their young. Here, a yearling is calling, and likely that’s one of its parents we see at the edge of the frame.

I don't think there's any task I dread more than email, and probably one that something like an LLM is most well-suited for, in terms of just producing the text.

This🧵’s tl;dr is this was sparked not by “woke” or UNDRIP or land acknowledgements but in 2013 when the gov’t of the day said private land rights took precedent over the Cowichan’s ask to not have a mansion built on a grave site, prompting the Cowichan to challenge that claim in court & win #bcpoli
A certain segment of social media mis very focused on a letter sent out by the city of Richmond this weekend and what a recent court ruling means for the future of land ownership in B.C. Helpful to read measured and informed takes from people who specialize in that area of law (see next post)
