“Cruz, Dillion, and LaPointe all mentioned that it takes a single adult without children an average of 19 days to get into a city shelter.”
The city plans to continue to sweep northwest side encampments, but there's no emergency shelter in that area for single unhoused Chicagoans to go to. A tentative city-state partnership is looking to change that. I wrote about it for week's Make it Make Sense:

They need a new tent because the other one was destroyed
My heart is breaking today. My life and the lives of my kids have been destroyed. Our tent collapsed due to the rain and wind, and now we are homeless on the street, suffering from the cold and hunger. We need $300 to buy a tent

right, the outermost limit of his futurist vision is "The Jetsons but Rosie the housecleaning robot is fuckable"
if you look at what Elon seems to want out of Optimus, for example, it’s very obvious that it’s something like “all-purpose robotic butler.” You can only really get that with a human shape.

the actual reason for this is so that robots can be easily plugged into human roles. the more human-like a robot is, the more readily it can replace a human.
one of the things I really do not understand is why so much of the development of robots seems to be focused on making them bipedal like humans. Why? It's an insane allocation of resources when it would be much easier to give them three or four "legs" or come up with some new system

Melissa Tran came here on a Green Card at age 11.

She's since raised 4 kids, started a business, & is a beloved member of the Hagerstown community.

Trump is deporting her, despite a judge saying she poses no threat.

Is she the "worst of the worst"? Do you feel safer yet?

if anyone remembers anything from the biden experience, it should be that electing blue no matter who isn't going to be enough to cut it in the fight against fascism. you need politicians suited for this moment. primarying them all is the most straightforward way to send that message
Primary Every Democrat
It’s exhausting to watch poll-tested, donor-beholden congressional Democrats continue to be too old, too cloistered, and too bumbling to do anything as the government burns.

fwiw Summers is yet another brick of the kyriarchy that Barack Obama helped cement into the edifice of what passes for "normalcy"
I know that at this point it's a subplot in the Epstein files drama, but I feel compelled to point out, once again, that Larry Summers HAS NO BUSINESS teaching students at ANY university ever again!

My latest cries into the abyss, in @thenation.com

Why Is Larry Summers Still Employed?
The revelations about the economist’s attempts to pressure a women into a “relationship”—with guidance from Jeffrey Epstein—should finally disqualify him from teaching students.

Of all the terrible things Roberts has done, this was the most shocking stat: "the right-wing majority has used the shadow docket to uphold Trump’s actions roughly 90 percent of the time, repeatedly bailing him out of any obligation to follow the law"
There’s one person squarely to blame for Trump’s corruption, authoritarianism & assault on democracy: John Roberts. He’s enabled so much of Trump’s lawlessness while somehow escaping accountability for it

This is all John Roberts’ fault

Most people, even very smart people, truly do not understand the extent to which car dependency was manufactured in the United States, and how decisions made 100 years ago are why cities and towns look the way they do today.
I'm really tired of people acting like car dependency happened organically when even a cursory look at history will make it clear that automakers pushed infrastructure and even zoning to juice car sales.

Honestly the more I think about this vile statement, the more it reminds me of the Old Left stalwarts who tried to wave away Stalin's atrocities well after they became public knowledge in the US. Feels like the same sort of moral blindness is opening up a similar rift in Jewish liberalism.
