Latest England COVID-19 hospital bed occupancy up.
COVID-19 positive tests up.
COVID-19 deaths up.
COVID-19 cases up.
Data source @ukhsa.bsky.social
Why?
Limited vaccine eligibility, waning immunity, lower priority by leaders, mixing in poorly ventilated, cramped spaces. Scant use of face coverings.

100% accurate discussion on Farage, swans, migrants & media by Ashley James on This Morning @thismorningitv.bsky.social - especially after Rylan

"The real cause of decline in our country… cost of living… youth clubs… police numbers… no social housing… migrants didn't do that, politicians did."

102,000 hairdressers in England with 40,000 salons

27,000 GPs with 6200 Surgeries

31 million people visit GPs every month a similar number have haircuts

You can see the problem @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social judging by Wes’s trim he is going to the hair salon a lot more than his GP unlike many

this study highlights that Long Covid remains a risk with every Covid infection, including for children and adolescents.

Particularly relevant as the Children's module opens for the UK Inquiry.

It's nonsense to say that children are and were at no risk from Covid.

Wes & Keir “We’ve a great plan to speed up access to GPs - video, telephones, technology”

GPs 🤷🏻‍♂️-“You mean all the stuff we’ve had for years”

How about some REAL support?

Funding for GPs to see patients & provide the care they need in General Practice

Neoliberal destruction of the NHS

UK has 2.4 hospital beds per 1,000 people
Germany 7.6
OECD average 4.6

Worse in many places. Hackney in London 0.9, lower than Mexico. Bedfordshire 1.7, same as Colombia.

Sick people can't work. Can't boost GDP & productivity without better healthcare.
Our state has become a guarantor of corporate profits
Equitable distribution of income and wealth would go a long way towards stimulating domestic demand and investment...

GP working hours are so often understated in official statistics only counting a session (half day) as 4hrs 10mins

Full-time working 50-60hrs

Average ‘Part-time’ 6 session GP working 36hrs

GPs who chose less sessions are also paid less proportionally so cost less

The only change is 20% more people have a consultation and face to face appointments are back to pre-pandemic levels

So that’s 31million appts a month and 5 million more than 2019

And this with 20% less funding no more GPs because the Govt hasn’t funded them

Can’t see a GP blame your MPs

Shame on you @telegraphnews.bsky.social for giving infamous UK anti-vaxer Aseem Malhotra a platform on the very day we learn a child has died of measles in Liverpool.

You do understand, don’t you, that it’s exactly this kind of scaremongering that leaves parents so anxious & afraid?

Shame on you.

also i don't think it is "counterintuitive" at all and is something we have known and described for years

that a lack of beds to admit sick patients in to are the cause of long waits and overcrowding in Emergency Departments rather than lots of attendances of non-admitted patients

everyone who is anyone in acute/emergency medicine has been saying this for years

too few beds
too many beds filled with people who don't need to be there but have nowhere else to go until support available
but too many politicians/media commentators focus on stopping attendances

Trying to understand how we got to the point where we have to argue the idea that you need a medical degree to practice medicine

Not only that, trying to convince others that qualifications & regulation matter in a safety critical industry for patients

What do you even say 🤷🏻‍♂️

No GP wants this, name another NHS service providing 20% more with 20% less funding, that gets as much flack & as little support

This is the problem

1/9 people waiting for hospital treatment
500k more people long term sick
2300 patients per GP - 500 more than 2016
20% less £

It seemed completely mad that the (esteemed) Crick Institute offer for early testing was not even responded to,

Especially if it rolled out a testing protocol and was the lead institute of other organisations using their protocols.
Astonishing evidence at the Covid Inquiry.

The Government repeatedly ignored offers from the Crick Institute to provide mass testing on a national scale.

Instead, the Government paid Deloitte consultants to project manage, not yet established, privately run labs.
