OFGS!The comparison fails at the most basic level.
There are over 33k Hair salons & 18k Barbershops in England,(>9k hairdressers in London alone),but there are ONLY 6.29k GP practices in ALL of England, with ⬆️practices closing as unviable thru chronic underfunding.
If Wes wants ⬆️appts-INVEST in GPs!

Except Oxbridge don't get ⬆️Gov funding to educate their under grad students & UK based students pay the same fees as they would to attend any other University.
They do receive added Gov funds to support their active & successful research departments,(normally a post grad function),as do other Unis.

Exactly! We have too few GPs despite training more since decades of low investment in Primary care has led to a GP unemployment crisis as practices can't afford them.
There are many non GP staff that patients can be directed to but we do need more fully qualified GPs to safely triage, see & treat pts.

Exactly!Contrast the outcome of Mr Hunt's ⬇️stamp duty bill when bulk buying properties with the 'outrage' greeting Ms Rayner's purchase of,currently, her only property. That complex regulations re trust arrangements for her disabled son would act to reclassify it as a 2nd home would be specialist info

But you were shown stats-mental health absence increases were NOT larger than for other causes,& all are⬆️.The ill effects of the ongoing pandemic on work force health due to⬆️ many other forms of illness too(Long Covid, respiratory, cardiovascular, diabetes & auto immune dis)+

Is it all too convenient to produce poorly performing IT systems for NHS hosps at gi-normous cost?(Last failure cost £10Billion)or ineptitude?GP Pt record software systems began in mid 1980s & had 100% implementatn by 2000.Much hosp software needs would share huge similarities-but no lessons learnt!
May 13, 2025 at 9:11 AM
Oh🤬,here we go again! The failed 2002 NHS NPfIT attempts by non health care experts to cobble from scratch hosp computerised records systems cost over £10BILLION! Meanwhile,GP's software,on which much hosp software could've been based, began in the 1980's with 100% take up over 25yrs ago-for £buttons!

Ok..maybe it's a bit of a stretch,(in the V)!!😂🙄.
Happy Monday Peter..hope you have plans for a great week.

It's B-9, the robot from 'Lost in space'-the late 1960's-early 70's TV series about the adventures of a family,(+ a few other interesting characters),who were lost in space.
Essential after school viewing for kids,it was a precursor to the original Star Trek TV series that followed soon afterwards.
May 11, 2025 at 9:11 PM
Well,that's a start,but what about the other 5,227 surgeries?
Patients want to see GPs & GPs want to see Pts.GP unemployment is rising whilst chronically underfunded primary care, which undertakes 90% of NHS care, tries to meet increasing clinical demand on about 6%of NHS budget.
More smoke & Mirrors!
May 6, 2025 at 10:01 AM
This article stresses the importance of in person GP appointments,(most GPs agree!),yet glosses over how & why it's become so difficult to provide these as a mere aside:
"the reduction on spending on primary care, relative to hospitals, must also be factored in".
🙄🤷

Oh l'm sorry..hope he's on the mend soon!
At least he didn't go missing l guess!(⬇️)..😯😬🙄
Still, it's an extra worry you could do without, especially when moving house soon.Thinking of you all & hoping for smooth sailings.
April 27, 2025 at 9:21 AM
Ah yes,GPs were offered 'resilience' training a while ago,(when we were already resilient but hugely under-resourced & therefore overloaded),which essentially amounted to'suck it up & stop fretting',& let's not forget the'wellbeing packs'with 'gratitude' journal, tea bag & colouring in book+ crayons.
April 24, 2025 at 4:57 PM
"Staff fatigue is not routinely captured as part of patient safety event reporting or routinely considered as part of patient safety event learning".No surprise!
The NHS always relied on staff & 'team spirit' to work on after shifts end& to cover staff shortages despite fatigue risk to staff & Pts .

Since.....⬇️.
Now everyone is an 'expert' after doing their 'research'..scrolling through a few Google references on their phones.
FGS!( That's the polite version).

Awful-l'm so sorry!
Some public building's air filtratn was upgraded after C19 hit to ⬆️clearance of viruses+ bacteria, mould, pollen&pollutants, eg the Houses of Parliament & a few other important Gov buildings.
So why not hospitals & schools?
Meanwhile,l do my best to protect self->regular C19 vax+..
April 19, 2025 at 8:59 AM
Uh-oh...stick with the digger Doc!
Nice to look at & drool over but step away!
April 15, 2025 at 3:31 PM
Well,if true,every little helps!
But it is very little.
There are approx 6,277 GP practices in England,(l say approx as the numbers are dwindling rapidly-see below),so 1500 new GPs will not help most practices &,if appointed by ARRs criteria, they will be 'new'& less experienced GPs-tho VERY welcome!
April 13, 2025 at 10:08 AM
Not at all!
l see myself a 'drip drip' source of info in hope of persuading those l can affect personally to take steps to protect themselves more.I spread the word re use effective mask, antiviral nasal spray, cetylpyridinium gargles, portable HEPA & access to C19 vax to lower risk-so can live life!
April 13, 2025 at 9:59 AM
Indeed..the practical would be all that! Also to add protections against further infectn such as widening C19 vax eligibility, decent masks &HEPA air filtration to ⬇️ airborne infection-protecting staff & pts,(shld be in all public buildings not just Gov ones).
More staff are still getting Long Covid!
April 13, 2025 at 7:34 AM
Great.
Can they now please do the same for our water and power industries??
April 12, 2025 at 11:57 AM
Really?? So when was it just a pretence..now or then?
Don't think I'll be buying Lego ever again.
April 11, 2025 at 8:08 PM
I'm filled with dread.Every GP experiences meeting referral obstructn, countering inapprop referral rejectn or using precious time to sort hosp admin failures of referral process. When £ incentive may skew, what reassurances do Pts & GPs have of quality of 'weed' & of weeder's qualification to do so??
April 11, 2025 at 10:13 AM
This plan is fraught with risk to Pts!(& expensive medicolegal risk).
GPs know how hard it can be to add genuinely in need people to NHS waiting lists & keep them there.Overly strict criteria, advice & guidance, faux DNA's etc all contribute.£ Incentives to 'weed'waiting lists is unethical-& by whom??
April 11, 2025 at 8:46 AM
Well,some of them did.
