A bit different #ArtAdventCalendar day 15. This time I made images in Python. It's Renzogram of atomic hydrogen (HI) in galaxy NGC1433 (left) and NGC6300 (right). Contours are colour-coded based on HI velocity - blue parts are moving towards us; red parts are moving away. #SciArt #RadioAstronomy 🔭

Long distance migrant (2022)

This tiny tree swallow flies thousands of kilometres every spring to raise the next generation. No wonder he looks so serious

Happy Sunday!

Every once in awhile you get a bird that perches in the best place possible and poses for you! This beautiful Blue Jay let me get the most amazingly shallow depth-of-field and even showed off its vibrant blue wings!💙

We trained a model to co-generate protein sequence and structure by working in the ESMFold latent space, which encodes both. PLAID only requires sequences for training but generates all-atom structures!

Really proud of @amyxlu.bsky.social 's effort leading this project end-to-end!

1/🧬 Excited to share PLAID, our new approach for co-generating sequence and all-atom protein structures by sampling from the latent space of ESMFold. This requires only sequences during training, which unlocks more data and annotations:

My favorite result was the ability to map changes in substrate along the evolution of the enzyme superfamily, giving us a "chemical phylogeny" for the sugars used by these enzymes. This showed that the more extant the enzyme sequence, the more chemically complex the substrate - chemical evolution!

Two BioML starter packs now:

Pack 1: go.bsky.app/2VWBcCd
Pack 2: go.bsky.app/Bw84Hmc

DM if you want to be included (or nominate people who should be!)
I tried to make a bioml starter pack. DM if you want me to add or remove you?

Anybody have a bioml starter pack?

I couldn't find one so I made one. Scientists who blend starter pack! Follow all the coolest #b3d science renders! I don't know everyone (or really anyone) so self-nominate and I'll add you in! (Bonus points if you post a cool render) go.bsky.app/S253qJN

"can you make a tutorial on–"

see I would love to but I'm not the one steering this ship, I'm at the mercy of several obsessions in parallel, some of which escape confinement in public ways
