Bike in The Obliteration Room
Artist: Yayoi Kusama

In this room, visitors are allowed to put stickers on the plain white walls and the bicycle. As more and more visitors put the dot stickers on every surface they can find, the white room disappears and is “obliterated”.

But, Emilia says the Chancellor missed a major opportunity.

SUVs - the UK’s heaviest, most polluting vehicles - remain untouched by tax reform. A Large Vehicle Levy could raise nearly £2bn a year to reinvest in public transport and address the damage these vehicles cause.

A bad day for Canada, and therefore the world.

Ontario (population 16 million, 40% of the country) has passed new legislation prohibiting bike lanes that take a lane from cars.

An escalation from Bill 212, which required municipalities to get approval.
A sad day for cyclists. Bill 60 - which prohibits the conversion of motor vehicle lanes to bike lanes (or any other prescribed purpose) - has passed Third Reading this morning which will kill various cycling projects in Toronto & across Ontario. #shame #BikeTO #BikeSky #TOpoli #ONpoli #VisionZero

🚦 It’s Road Safety Week, and like many of you, we’ve been thinking about what it feels like to move through our cities, whether that's walking kids to school, cycling to work, or just trying to cross the road.
Too big for our streets: the harms of SUV use in Scottish cities - Transform Scotland
Professor of Transport & Health at Napier University, Dr Adrian Davis, writes for Transform Scotland. “SUVs are now one of the biggest emerging threats to road safety in Scottish cities.”...

In #Edinburgh 40% of households don’t have access to a car at all, yet so much of our public space is devoted to private vehicles.

Compare and contrast the Government language.

£3,750 EV grant on a £35k car: ‘helping families’.

Cycle to Work: ‘subsidising leisure’.

And yet cycling delivers TEN TIMES the impact of electric cars for reaching net zero. It’s almost like narrative, not data, is driving policy.

Argh. That diversion is a route I avoid cycling whenever possible because heading west it spits you out into a terrifying death-is-imminent beast of a roundabout (plus the stretches of protected lane flood in heavy rain).
Ferry Road Path CLOSED to pedestrians and cyclists from today to 16 January for installation of a security fence at Leonardo. TTRO closure order was signed on Wednesday with the below diversion: www.edinburgh.gov.uk/downloads/fi... #EdTravCyc @spokes.org.uk @edi.bike

🚨The Home Secretary said "illegal migration is dividing our country."

Let’s be clear: the only thing dividing our country is a politics devoid of humanity and compassion.

The plans announced today are a cruel political choice. It is #NotInOurName.

Governments and voters are both reacting to algorithm-shaped “public opinion,” not grounded priorities. Immigration feels urgent because platforms amplify fear, pulling parties into hollow performances of toughness. The far right reads that drift as confirmation it’s winning.
Not everyone is unhappy about the Government's descent into anti-refugee politics

An otherwise rare clear Forrest Road though! Usually the bike lane is parked up *and* you're sandwiched against the parked cars by a bus, or have a van, a black cab and an SUV trying to shove into the sliver of road space you're occupying... Bonus points if it's also dark and raining.
Cyclists should stay in the bike lane

One of my earliest moments of radicalization was in 2005 when Larry Summers said that women biologically have less aptitude for science than men. Following that, scores of equally unimpressive people wrote pieces trying to explain or justify his remarks, when they should have called for his removal.
