Excited to announce I've finally started Baywatch: Hawaii and as expected it is thusfar IMPECIBLE. (I am 15 minutes in)

It has been three days since my idiot 44 year old ass went in the Poison the Well pit and everything hurts. Still, I regret nothing.

Just found a review of the first concert I ever went to and can't believe it was only ten bucks. Told my parents I was going to a birthday sleepover for a friend whose family swapped Brooklyn for Jersey after 8th grade. Didn't tell them about the concert, or that her birthday was in May.

One of the reasons @baltimorebeat.bsky.social is so essential is because it provides features like the multi-page list of community resources for food, rent, health, etc. Critical community information you won’t routinely see in other media outlets serving the City.

Baltimore Beat is the newsroom of the future (and also this very moment)
When we were planning what we wanted Baltimore Beat to be, we knew that the news needed to be accessible for everyone – you don’t have to pay to read Baltimore Beat and our print copies are distributed all over the city, for whoever wants one. https://buff.ly/4fuOpDk

Guys, if you love anything in the world, love it NOW. Go out and enjoy every fucking second of all of this while we still have it. Fight like hell to keep it as long as we can. Show up. Do the thing. Don't let yourself forget what we have to live for.

Hi all, We’re still here at OPM.

We have a situation where we MIGHT, and I do mean, MIGHT have four of Elon’s people blocked from the building.

Can we get press or a member of Congress down here? We’ve blocked them for two hours and they keep coming back and trying to go in.

I feel like I've said this to myself every week for a nearly decade and Democrats have let me down 472 times in a row. But maybe this time it'll be different!
This is the week that everyone in the US realizes that Trump is gonna fuck up their lives in a real, concrete way.

This HAS to be the week that elected Democrats back up their talk with ACTION.

At the very least, vote against every Trump nominee. Deny unanimous consent.

It's becoming a volunteer one. There's no longer any money in journalism. We defunded a critical public utility because it wasn't profitable, created a massive vacuum, and now here we are. Even if we strike out on our own, there's no way to survive unless you have someone covering our bills.
Some of us are trying but it's hard when most of the major outlets are owned by soulless billionaires/corps. There's still some folks managing to get good work out there but damn is it an uphill battle (and a poorly paid one at that).

Been screaming this from the rooftops for years, and hope people are finally ready to listen: media as we once knew it is dead and gone, and it's future is FUCKED. The biggest war we've been (yes, BEEN) fighting hasn't been for the control of oil, but for information.
My first and definitely last time working with the Los Angeles Times. Editing out the most urgent point of an OpEd in the minutes before sending to press while then also assigning a title and image that suggest an argument entirely opposite to the author’s clear intent is pretty shitty.

If you're from Maryland and would like your brand new senator Angela Alsobrooks to stop voting for Trump's nominees, give her office a call and leave her a voicemail. I've been told it moves the needle, since everyone hates phone calls now. 202-224-4524

The highest compliment from someone who disagrees with you is not “You were right.” It’s “You made me think.”

Good arguments help us recognize complexity where we once saw simplicity.

The ultimate purpose of debate is not to produce consensus. It’s to promote critical thinking.

YES YES YES! This is how Twitter felt til about 2015, then it all went to hell. The youths are getting a fleeting taste of hope and promise and I love it. We need more moments of this. It's not dead yet, goddamnit!
#Bluesky has actually shown me that having a bunch of followers is not how social media is supposed to work.

You’re supposed to meet ppl that share a similar outlook as you, interact, and exchange ideas.

I was raised to believe that a fellow like Elon Musk would have been taken out by some James Bond-esque org by now so what's the hold up on this

My new senator Angela Alsobrooks has voted Yes on several Trump nominations. If you're in Maryland she's your senator, too, so you might want to give her a call and let her know how you're feeling about her job performance thusfar: 202-224-4524

My sons are starting college, and this is the world they're being handed. It's the future your kids are getting, too. And it's going to look nothing like the past.
As a queer man in their 50s I am sitting here in tears that this is the fucking world that my 89 year old mom has to see in her final years. To hear her on the phone say "I stay up at night worrying about you and Brendan" is a heartbreak that I don't wish on anyone. Fuck you fascists.
