Took me a second to realize, nope, the carnivores are not getting feisty
The coverage in the next day’s Las Vegas Review-Journal was just a little sensational, especially given how little information the Atomic Energy Commission actually released about the test itself.

In the greatest city in the world
Best TikTok thing going is the two dudes trying food from every country without leaving NYC. If you haven’t seen them yet, it’s incredible. My favorite so far is last week’s. Legit got me emotional.

The remaining decline is in part related to the fact that community college enrollment is countercyclical.

In recessions, when jobs are scarce, some folks choose community college because that's the best available option.

When jobs are plentiful, those potential students instead choose jobs.

If women are underrepresented in STEM, it's at least partly because men like this offer mentoring, then embarrass themselves by assuming their mentees must be into them, then decide the best solution is to cut ties, which sends the signal to other faculty that the mentee must not be good enough.
The emails have Summers reporting to Epstein about his attempts to date a Harvard economics student & to hit on her during a seminar she was giving.

NYC needs a “That Guy” Chief to maintain world-leading character-needs-no-name levels of recognizable behavior
ok here's my nyc policy idea: create the post of Chief Weirdo. The job goes to an iconic freak whose job it is to maintain our world-leading weirdo levels. Curtis Sliwa can be the inaugural officeholder

The framing here of “American” vs “foreign-born” should set off alarm bells for naturalized citizens
The U.S. Labor Department said it would begin opening investigations of employers that “abuse” the H-1B visa program, as part of a broader effort to prioritize Americans over foreign-born workers.
Trump administration to get tough on companies that misuse the H-1B visa
The Labor Department said it would take the unusual step to open investigations into companies that abuse the H-1B visa program.

I just love athletes talking up the qualities of those in other sports
I love this story bc I know so many cis men who are good and kind and fun to be around and undeniably masculine, and this thread does such a good job of describing what that energy actually is.
funny story, I signed up for personal training at a local gym and was assigned a former NFL linebacker as a trainer

giant man, covered in tattoos, big muscles, loud voice

I am someone who just… doesn’t have a particularly well-assembled body

This also makes it easier for people to leave bad relationships rather than feeling forced to stay to avoid homelessness
My hottest take about getting laid-as-politicsis it's downstream from housing policy. Nobody wants to have sex where they live with their parents, or have 1k roommates. We must increase the supply of cheap little apartments where people can bang 🙏

Mind-blowing stats on nurseries in China: the number of births has fallen by half *since 2017*, leading to a collapse in early years provision.

The future impact on primary and secondary education is going to be seismic.

A lot of navel gazing on this app lately.

I’m here because of the comedians and other amusing writers. I’m here to laugh and maybe learn along the way.

Maybe I’m a simpleton (pfp checks out) or maybe I just appreciate those that can make a point without starting fires.
