I know Kaos was expensive to make, but I still think the cancellation of season 2 within a week of its debut was in anticipation of a Trump win. 😞
"According to the report, [...]during the 2024-25 television season, queer characters increased across platforms by 4%, bringing the total to 489. However, the Thursday report found that 41% of those characters will not return." www.thewrap.com/glaad-where-...

I do NOT go in for cozy, but Cat Sebastian’s latest is an actually palatable comfort read about redemption and hope in what looks like an impossibly difficult historical moment. Definitely written for fall 2025.

Two thumbs way up.

Today I watched the Bluey episode “Fairytale” for the first time.

It’s set in the 1980s. When Bandit and his brothers were all older than I was by the end of the 1980s.

Bluey’s are apparently, like, half a decade older than me.

I don’t know how I feel about this information. 😅

Why does the myth persist that America had open borders until the passage of the 1921 Johnson Quota Act?

The Chinese Exclusion Act passed in 1882.

I suppose the TLDR remains the same: our immigration policies have ALWAYS been racist.

Does anyone know what's going on with Harlequin Afterglow? A few months ago I heard they were cancelling contracted books and closing the whole line, but now there are releases lined up all through 2026 with new submission guidelines posted. Looks like they're pivoting to more SFF?

The idea that EN publishers would use AI for speed is hilarious, because most LNs start out serialized as web novels or published in magazines.

They're already pirated and fan/AI-translated by impatient fans long before the JP side even publishes them as novels.
As machine translation tools under the banner of AI become increasingly accessible and easy to use, the light novel landscape is at a crossroads. Do light novel publishers compromise their product for more speed, and if so, by how much?

“Parental choice”
LAUSD, the second-largest school district in the country, has enabled chatbots on student devices without even notifying parents or providing any means of opting out.
I seem to remember whole congressional hearings about the terrible destructive force that is violence in video games and yet, there is a very strange quiet about an unregulated technology that coaches people to suicide.

11yo’s science teacher requires her to use ChatGPT in the classroom.

It’s “just a tool”.
1.This is not the only known example we know of ChatGPT cheering on a vulnerable young person to die by suicide, this time it is a recent Texas A&M grad
2. Every single university that has invited OpenAI into our midst should be asked to account for their choices.

Congratulations Dr. Alicia Johnson and Peter Hubbard on LANDSLIDE statewide victories in Georgia.

These wins prove the massive grassroots energy powering Georgia Dems and unstoppable turnout juggernaut the Democratic Party of Georgia is building with the leadership of Chair Charlie Bailey.

@ossoff.senate.gov What part of this massive win says, "It's time to cave to the GOP?"

Even Trump admitted on "Truth" Social last night that the shutdown contributed to Democratic and Progressive victories.
