"The strategy is coordinated: starve the institutions that build civic power, then close the ballot box to those who would wield it. One hand suppresses the vote; the other strangles the organizing that defends it." - Co- Founder of BVM, LaTosha Brown and Janiece Evans-Page.

When more than 80% of Black voters tend to vote the same way, politicians know exactly what they’re doing when they redraw maps to wipe out those districts. They call it “partisan gerrymandering,” but really it’s a strategy that hits Black communities the hardest.

No property tax hikes. Grocery tax eliminated. No garbage fee increases. No layoffs.
The wealthy pay their share. Our communities get invested in.

Increasing turnout requires both structural changes—like easier registration and accessible polling places—and community action.

Individuals can help by talking to neighbors about why voting matters, assisting with registration, making voting plans, or offering rides.
Real question: what will get more Americans to vote? At the polling location where I'm at as a commissioner, I can say that brokenness of voting isn't limited to just one socioeconomic group. It's generally everybody. Only 1 - 3% of the voters are showing up in some precincts, for local elections.

The Trump admin. will require all SNAP participants to reapply, claiming an anti-fraud crackdown, though fraud is minimal and states already recertify regularly.

Mass reapplications will overwhelm offices, cause delays, and put children, seniors, and working families at risk of losing benefits.
