Our authoritarian leader does not have the right to remove your authoritarian leader!
Our president can't kidnap a foreign leader and occupy another country for its oil. Venezuela deserves better—and so do we.

Join us on Sunday, 1/4 for a "We Say No to Occupation" march.

Gather at noon at Oak Hill (Piedmont Park) to march at 12:30.

End at the North Avenue MARTA Station.

Contact your senators and demand that they check the regime’s lawless violence — or there’s no telling where this will end.

New Years can be hard when you’re chronically ill

People are setting goals for the upcoming year… and many of us can’t participate

Our goal is to survive & lessen suffering

If all you did in 2025 was survive, that’s ok

It’s ok if that’s your goal for 2026 too

Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise

Given the increasing integration of GenAI in my Wordpress.com sites, I would love to migrate to some kind of site hosting that DOESN'T buy into the bullshit. Sadly, I am having trouble finding one.
Am I going to have to set up my own webserver, goddamit?

We were ready to take the plunge. Got my spouse’s job transferred. Sold our house.

It was February 2020.

We waited until the end of 2021 to give up. 🫠
So you’ve decided to take the plunge. Enough of the carefully crafted hospitality; you’re ready to make Japan your home, even for a little while. This guide exists for that exact moment—when curiosity turns into commitment.

Counter-point: Dad from Jingle All the Way is actually a decent parent compared to the dads from most 90s Christmas movies.

Home Alone dad? Lets his brother bully Kevin before leaving him… well…

Santa Clause dad? Does the bare minimum before becoming Santa and literally fucking kidnaps kid.

They’re exhausting, isolating and lonely.

The Pantomime Prince is a holiday favorite I return to every year. Such big feels, contained angst, + strong characters for a short short.

(It’s also one you can read in public without worrying who’s looking over your shoulder—a must-have feature of at least some of my Christmas romances. 😅)

LLM summaries are not research.

And also, can this shit inspire a cultural shift where we stop celebrating dense and inscrutable academic writing?

“Admire me, a human writer, as I explain my ideas in a reasonable, human way?”
This is one of the reasons I remain horrified by seeing @historians.org suggest "ways to use gAI" that included this:
December 21, 2025 at 6:55 AM
…and this is why we there’s such as push for including AI in K-12 education.

6th grader is occasionally required to use it for school, and is frustrated when classmates now bring it into non-school collaborative projects.

19—we had moved on to mix CDs and Napster by the time I was in high school.

2, 4, 13, and 17 were all old enough to be “Wow, cool! A rotary phone!” or “An Apple //e!”

6 has also been vintage my entire life. We own an LP player now and can (and do!) walk to Atlanta’s most iconic vinyl store.
