Definitely! I believe this, but also its only 1 day of the year. Being a little "overstuffed" is totally okay! Getting back into a normal routine after is more important to me at least.
Thanksgiving foods are not the issue. How fast you eat and how much you keep piling on the plate matter more. Slow down, taste your food, and stop at comfortable instead of stuffed. Enjoy the day without overthinking it. #RealWorldNutrition

I’ll use nutrition to give people advice that feels doable and not overwhelming. Real life matters, stress, time, money, and I want to help them make changes that actually work for them. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I honestly never considered how much damage overly strict hospital diets might be doing. It’s wild that something as simple as letting patients have their normal morning coffee could actually boost both outcomes and satisfaction.
More evidence that our overly restrictive hospital diets could actually be causing harm. There aren’t many interventions out there that can improve both clinical AND patient satisfaction outcomes quite like a cup of morning joe! ☕️

I’m going to start checking whether a nutrition post cites real experts or research before believing it. And the food I’m most excited for on Thanksgiving is butternut squash with a brown-sugar pecan crumble. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I like this article because it emphasizes how much kids learn from what adults model. It also gives simple tips for cooking veggies without losing nutrients, which makes it easy for families to actually apply in daily meals.

This article is evidence based, easy for parents to understand, and covers practical guidance on sleep, nutrition, activity, and screen time. It’s clear, reliable, and something I would confidently share with families in practice. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social www.cdc.gov/healthy-weig...

Same! I actually do this a lot with sweet potatoes. I toss them in a little olive oil, salt, and cinnamon, roast them until the edges get crispy, and they come out so sweet and satisfying. It’s one of the easiest ways to make them taste amazing.
Roasting is an easy way to make vegetables taste richer and sweeter while preserving their nutritional value. Toss diced veggies in olive oil and season; spread on a baking sheet and place in a hot oven to turn simple produce into something you actually want to eat. #RealWorldNutrition

Tom’s story showed how shame kept him from care. What helped him wasn’t a strict diet but one consistent habit he could stick to. It reinforced to me that real health changes come from support and small sustainable steps. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Wild that soft drink intake was tied to depression through changes in gut bacteria like Eggerthella, especially in women. The gut-brain connection just keeps getting more real.
This one surely has something on offer for every one: In this cross-sectional mediation analysis, the "effects" of soft drink consumption on depression were "mediated" by abundance of Eggerthela in the gut microbiome.

This was sent to me via dm and now you all got to suffer as well.

Fun fact: Intensive behavioral programs can help people lose 4–7 kg and cut diabetes risk by 50%. I’ll remember that small, consistent lifestyle changes can make a big impact, and encourage others to focus on progress, not perfection. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

And they're so satiating! I feel like potatoes get a bad reputation because they're carb heavy, but they are lower in calories and help you stay full longer. My favorite is gnocchi!
Sad? Have you tried eating a potato about it? French fries, roasted, mashed, baked, tater tots, hash browns, scalloped, gnocchi, chips, hasselback. The possibilities of happiness are endless. 😋🥔🍠🍟

I relate most to the barrier of social pressure to eat unhealthy foods. Especially at work when everyone else is ordering out even when I know I brought my own lunch, it's very tempting sometimes to do what everyone else does. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

So true. Food is fuel, not a reward or punishment. Our bodies deserve nourishment every day no matter how we feel or what we did. It’s about balance and taking care of ourselves, not restriction or guilt.
PSA: You don’t have to earn your food. It’s not a reward for being “good” or punishment for being “bad.”

Creatine monohydrate is one of the most researched supplements for strength and muscle growth. It’s important to choose a third party tested brand to ensure what’s on the label is actually in the product, like Nutricost which tests for purity and quality. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

You make a good point about AI supporting patient engagement rather than replacing dietitians. It helps patients take more responsibility for their nutrition while giving providers better insight for assessment.
AI tech can help improve patient engagement in their nutrition care. Again, not replacing the dietitian, but rather providing tools for the patient to take ownership of their care and provide data for a full assessment. #WhatRDsDo

I really like this reminder. Food isn’t only fuel, it’s also culture, comfort, and connection. Enjoying what we eat without guilt is part of a healthy lifestyle. Balance and nourishment matter more than restriction or trying to “earn” meals through exercise.
Food = fuel AND joy (+ culture, experience, love, etc.). You’re allowed to eat without guilt. No burpees required.

The Carnivore Diet cuts out all plants and focuses only on meat, eggs, and some dairy. It sounds simple but feels extreme. I’m curious, are there any real long term studies showing benefits, or is it just another short term weight loss trend? #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

My usual breakfast is an egg and cheese on a plain bagel. To make it more nutrient dense, I can use a whole grain bagel, add spinach & tomato, and use fat free mozzarella, and maybe even add some turkey bacon. Making it higher fiber, protein and adding color to my meal. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I agree with focusing on portions. Everything can be enjoyed and "healthy" in moderation. I don't believe in restriction, but being mindful of how much you are consuming is important for personal wellness and health. And this mindset kind of goes for anything, everything in moderation.
We really need to focus on portions and not single foods or ingredients.
Portions - in restaurants, bakeries, grocers - are too large.
We will eat the plate.
Yet can be satisfied with less is less becomes the normalized option.
I found this interesting because instead of being wary of certain ingredients, it's crucial to focus on broad diet habits. The key factors are caution, range, & rational choices. I like that healthy eating, portion control, and whole foods are prioritized over publicity. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Tracking my intake was easy as I already do it, but when I first started it was de hard. I didn't realize how much of a condiment I would use. Because I already track, I think it was accurate. The only thing that still surprises me is how low my daily fiber intake is. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I love this! I feel like people often forget that nutrition is not a "one size fits all". There are always guidelines to follow but everyone's bodies are different and require different things.
The trolls love to say "Don't listen to her about nutrition - you might end up looking like her." But I'm not telling you to eat like me (that would be silly; you're not me & I don't know enough about you)

But as instructional as I get is to say -- be wary of instructional one size fits all advice.

A fun fact I learned is that it’s not just how much protein you eat, but also the way its made. Lentils give protein and fiber, while red meat adds saturated fat, and beans or poultry support heart health. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is interesting to me because it is a reminder of how its easy to get distracted and lose focus on actually progressing research
Amidst all the chaos, I am saddened by how much potential to actually impact nutrition, science funding, rigor & reproducibility, etc is being wasted. Defense against existential threats & fundamentally anti-science sentiments is essential but can't distract entirely from the need for future reform.
