Ask, and ye shall receive.

This was a fun discussion - it was good to dive into object-level issues after so long operating in the rarefied Rawlsian space. Thanks @polphilpod.bsky.social for having me.
Even as a former Paulite, Ron Paul has been one of those guys I’ve been waiting to start pandering to MAGA as he ages, and he just hasn’t.
Ron Paul is 100% spot on.

"Imperial Lannister Cosplay" What do they teach them in schools these days?
Things are going well over on Truth Social, where Trump just reposted AI Slop of himself as what I can only describe as imperial Lannister cosplay, with prominent Democrats kneeling at his feet

i feel that this is not really ultimately about men, its really about a world where the “non-toxic” cultural milieu relentlessly emphasizes an autonomous, secure self that simply doesn’t exist

While I do admire the Poasting, I think a huge chunk of the political disputes here come down to whether or not you think we should treat this reticence as an obstacle, or a constraint.

There was wall-to-wall coverage of January 6th, and it basically moved the moved and persuaded the persuaded.
living through the previously-absurd scenario of an out-of-control president looting the nation, ignoring the law, inciting violence, pardoning criminals, working with our enemies, but instead of some titanic political struggle most of society is just trying really hard to avoid mentioning it

Hey, so all we have to do after this is elect a one-in-a-century political and legislative talent who perfectly balances the ethic of responsibility with the ethic of ultimate ends, shouldn't be a huge problem
um.

If this is what you're reaching for as a *comforting* comparison...

Forcing my fiancee to play Lords of the Fallen with me and seeing her go, in 19 hours, from “what is this bull****” to bragging about how her endgame zweihander is lore-appropriate for her character…

There really is no greater feeling as a gamer

There's nothing intrinsically illegitimate about this. Nobody ever promised you a fair, unbiased, or logically consistent electorate. Sorry!
To me, it just sounds like you’re trying to justify using completely different metrics to measure the 2 parties.

this shit right here is wrecker shit, as much as wrecker shit as any online leftist has done, if not more so. no wonder so many people are repulsed by anyone (rightly) saying 'vote blue no matter who', the most powerful elected Dem in the nation won't do it! it undermines the whole coalition! jfc

It seems like a future Mamdani situation would be more analogous to the 2012 election, where Obama and the entire Democratic party treated Todd Akin like Mitt Romney's running mate.
A more pertinent question: Why might one mayor in one city be a political liability for national Democrats, while the president, VP, various governors, and members of Congress are not for the national Republicans, let alone any GOP mayor?

How did that come to be? Who makes that happen?

This is not left- or right-specific, nor is it necessarily even tenuously about Israel. The idea that there's this stodgy, sinister powers-that-be in need of a shake-up, and that the people in charge are The Jews, this is contemporary antisemitism and 'whiteness' has little to do with it.

Peter Molyneux is a liar. He’s not “passionate” or “too ambitious” or anything else that softens his behavior.

He is a career liar with a recorded pattern of using dishonest statements to sell products. There’s nothing innocent about it, it’s a routine he’s performed for decades.

Russell got the same rancid vibe off of Lenin that I got off of Trump when I went to one of his rallies back in 2016. It became viscerally clear that this was a guy who *liked using power to hurt people*, and that immediate, in-the-room impression never left me.
