There's a lot of demand for a resurgent anti-Trump left but there's a real allergy to doing politics the way the broad left did politics from 2014-2024 (call it 'wokeness' as a shorthand if you want), but since institutions move slower than culture this has been hard for political orgs to navigate.

This is what’s so goofy about a lot of the ‘protest strategy’ stuff.
“People light garbage fires to make hot rocks which can then peacefully puncture the tires of ICE vehicles” is such a crazy thing to say if you have any realistic understanding of how chaotic and improvisational most protests are.

It made absolutely zero sense. But the guys building the barricades didn’t have a plan, they just wanted to build barricades. This was incredibly clear on the ground

ICE killing #AlexPretti should remind you of police killing #PhilandoCastille. Both men had concealed weapon permits, did not draw their guns, & were killed in Minn. These homicides are the price of unaccountable policing. These deaths are variations on the same fatal theme.

I study it for a living, but this is why, in my gut, I’ve never understood why Catholics ally with right-nationalists.
When you hang out with people who scream about ‘illegals’ and ‘Jewry’, ‘popery’ is always, always the next word outta their mouth. It takes basically nothing for them to go there.

Here's the thing about the ICE killing: this just *is* what a wide-scale crackdown looks like. Whether it's deportation, gun confiscation, homeless relocation, whatever. The state, especially its policing arm, is a big dumb machine filled with trigger-happy morons. This is the only tool you've got.
