It's important to emphasise this isn't a ruling, but an indicator of the prejudices of a judge deciding on the judicial review. However, it's a reminder of the difficulties of trying NOT to break the law whilst opposing the draconian nature of the ban. Here's our advice netpol.org/2025/06/26/p...
BREAKING: Judge in judicial review over proscription of Palestine Action claims the statement "Palestine Action are not terrorists" would be deemed support for the group.

So we are clear welfare spending in this country is NOT “out of control”. It’s risen very little in 10+ years. Small increase due to ageing & ill population. But benefits to working age families & children have been cut severely. Over 70% of children in poverty live in working families #Budget2025

Juries are not perfect.

Many of the worst miscarriages of justice have followed jury trials.

But the merit of juries is not so much the power they have, but the power they prevent others from having.

They mean a judge cannot just nod-along with prosecution evidence and give a guilty verdict.

How is this not the top story on every news bulletin?
This has been happening for years and instead of doing anything to protect children successive governments have made the situation worse. This isn't just on councils. It is part of failings on a State level.

So much of the UK’s steady decline post war can be explained by how easy it is for some people to fail upwards. Some spectacular examples with COVID and Brexit - often the same people in both. And easily identifiable by the frequency of their appearance on BBC Radio 4 Today programme

I don't have much to say about the covid inquiry.

I'm looking back at my briefing documents advising local government on the 14th March 2020.

46 UK universities had already locked down by this date, ten days before Boris announced national lockdown.

I wish I'd pushed harder.

Johnson presided over a “toxic, sexist, chaotic culture” at No10 during the pandemic, costing tens of thousands of lives.

Let's not forget Farage in this either — he and his client journalists were vocally anti-lockdowns and science. He also wants the UK to leave WHO as well as the ECHR.

Lots of Labour MPs asking Mahmood tonight to rule out child detention. She won’t rule it out. That’s because forced removals of families will mean children in detention for periods.

Home Office ruling out deportation of lone minors but the changes will certainly mean more detention of children.

Cruel and unworkable. Who decides what women are 'meant' to look like? The idea that you can challenge someone because they don't fit your stereotype if massively regressive. And unkind.
