Every time we jump in a car for a journey which can be covered on foot or on public transport, we are feeding the massive machine of oil addiction.

Europe is really hardly less addicted to the car, including the UK.

i feel like i see a lot of "mysterious new account makes big bet on insider information" news stories and not enough people-being-arrested-for-that news stories
“What appears to be a newly created account appeared to invest $30,000 Friday in Maduro's exit. After Maduro went into custody Saturday morning, that same investor netted $436,759.61.”
Someone made $400K by predicting Maduro's capture. Here's what happened
The winnings come as the rules governing prediction markets are still evolving.

The U.S. is functionally now a pariah state and must be treated as such until the cancer rotting out the heart of the White House is cut out.

It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month.

It’s about oil and regime change.

And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from his sinking under Epstein and skyrocketing healthcare costs.

A US indictment doesn’t give you the right to invade another country, seize its leader, or decide who governs next. Criminal charges and non-recognition don’t erase head-of-state immunity, this is regime change dressed up as law enforcement.

People are going to try and lure you into debates about whether Maduro was a good guy or not and the thing is, it doesn’t matter for the purposes of discussing whether violent kidnappings and extrajudicial murders by the US government are ok. No, they aren’t! End of convo.

I’m thinking this morning about all the people I spoke to last year who were absolutely convinced, and tried to convince me, that Trump would be antiwar compared to Biden and Harris.

In the past week alone he has attacked Nigeria and then Venezuela and also threatened to attack Iran (again).

one of my biggest radicalization moments was when bush bombed iraq in blatant violation of international law and the reaction by the western world was… -nothing-. the US has been doing this shit forever, killing millions of innocent people and never facing consequences.

Fucking hell.

Think the referance to US Law Enforcement here is quite telling as well: a huge extension of how far the US feels its laws reach.

Apparently its fine to now attack and kidnap a head of state because of 'US law'. Fucking hell.
Trump says Maduro is in US custody.

Whatever you might think of Maduro, the seizure and kidnapping of a head of state takes us to a very dark place. Vast, arbitrary, extra-legal power, which could be exercised almost anywhere, regardless of the character of the target government.

You don’t have to caveat your condemnation of blatant disregard for international law with your negative opinion about Maduro. Indeed, it’s better if you don’t.

Jesus Christ. There’s never been a time since WW2 that the US hasn’t been the most frightening country in the world I don’t think (though during the Cold War they got to share that honour) but times like this really show that.

The bombing of Venezuela is yet another illegal, unprovoked act of aggression by US government, very much in keeping with its long, squalid history of foreign policy.

Main difference is that Trump, unlike other warmonger presidents, was too lazy to really even try and sell his war crimes to voters.
