Sen. Booker’s speech was a substantive and moral account of this moment. He did not read the phone book. He did not babble.
For 24 hours @booker.senate.gov laid out a detailed, damning, and critical narrative of truth, history, politics, morality, humanity.

What will you do?

This should be THE story for US coverage of the earthquake.
In case anyone was wondering, the United States isn’t able to deploy USAID’s DART emergency response teams or international search and rescue (USAR) to this or any other crisis.

The National Weather Service is THE ONLY source of weather data in the US. Every weather app, local broadcaster, and weather forecast map is based on NWS data from NOAA. This is a ridiculously stupid own goal for the US that will disrupt all kinds of social and economic activity, and endanger lives.
BREAKING: The mass firing of upwards of 1,800 workers at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, including top climate scientists and weather forecasters, has begun.

The firings reportedly include workers at the National Weather Service.

Here's Trump's Secretary of Energy saying that climate policy has delivered tremendous "costs."

Yeah, this is a lie.

Exposing the false but *dominant* economics of this climate propaganda in Chapter 2 of my book, I show you how to combat this lie & what to say instead.

Anytime a storm is brewing, your local forecasters are getting the latest data from NOAA. As the agency faces an uncertain future, one thing's for sure: for-profit companies would struggle to replicate NOAA's weather-forecasting prowess.

Replicating the abilities of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s fleet of weather satellites would take time and a lot of money—and expose private companies to a large amount of…

It's literally impossible to run the National Weather Service without talking to foreign partners.

For example, the National Hurricane Center in Miami shares data with other nations in the Caribbean constantly to forecast storms. Everyone benefits.

Weather doesn't stop at the borders.

This…
I cannot emphasize enough that if they dismantle federal hazard agencies, warning systems, and emergency management disaster death tolls will increase.

We can very easily lose the ground we have spent decades gaining.
Or that the country's deadliest hurricane, 1900 Gavelston a hurricane was in part so deadly because US weather forecasters were racist. Hurricanes have gotten less deadly even as more of us live on the coast because of accurate weather forecasting
