A family rebuilt life in this small room after the storms because USAID showed up when nothing else did. Today the agency is gone but the proof of its power hangs on these walls. Real help. Real dignity. We should not forget what was possible when we chose to care.

David Richardson was terrible at FEMA. Truculent and unqualified…

Emergency management deserves better. America in times of disaster deserves better.

There are only 8 DC-10s in the US now. The biggest affected operator is 10 Tanker… good thing fire season is (mostly, cuz climate change) behind us.
The FAA issued a new emergency airworthiness directive late Friday expanding immediate mandatory inspections of engine pylon structures to DC-10 and MD-10 aircraft. This follows last week’s EAD for MD-11s after the crash of UPS 2976. www.flightradar24.com/blog/aviatio...

Elon and company should rightly go down in history as a villain for the destruction of USAID and be judged accordingly. 👇🏾
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

Historical perspective on Virginia election results-

Abigail Spanberger is on track to win by the largest margin of any Democratic candidate for Governor since 1961, before the integration-era party realignment.

Democrats will win their largest House of Delegates majority since 1987.

A BIG night.

The sense of moral injury about the lack of USAID just … I can’t get over it.

I know what America can do to help our friends in times of crisis - I’ve seen it, been a part of it many times.

The fact that we simply don’t have the will in the face of such human danger and suffering is terrible.
