As someone who actually has an FBI challenge coin and earned it by “doing something,” the FBI Director’s new challenge coin is super cringe and kitsch.

I used my phone to take a shot of the controller while looking up at the drone looking back down at me. It’s meta…

Today was the Bainbridge Island community day of preparedness held at the fire station. I go to spend a lot of time talking to people about tech resiliency in disasters.

20 years ago today. Hurricane Katrina. I responded to it.

America failed those people. Too many died needlessly.

We spent 2 decades trying to make things better in emergency mgmt. Now? it’s being undone.

I am still haunted by Hurricane Katrina, but I am more haunted by tomorrow’s Katrina.

I live on Bainbridge Island, where the forced internment began in WW2. The sign pointing to the memorial is in my front yard.

Of course I am aware of the history. But history demands we heed its lessons in our own time, in our own actions.

Yeah, DC was such a hellhole the last time I was there. I walked all over town. Ate at great restaurants. Didn’t get murdered *once*

One of our dogs is a Portuguese Pondengo which is a breed *nobody* has ever heard of around here. “You have a what?” is a typical response.

I got a Mac 512k (circa 1984) out of storage and that bad boy booted up on the first go! It now sits next to my 2025 Macbook Pro.

@danacorn.bsky.social chose violence with this one. As a Gen-X dad, I feel personally attacked.

On Bainbridge Island, one of the major arteries (“the head of the bay”) is shut down for the next few months. Thousands would pass thru here on a daily basis.

The island is going a little nuts right now.

a drone collided with a rescue helicopter over the Texas flood response today. Helicopter is now grounded.

Echoes of the drone collision over the Los Angeles fires in January.

It’s pride weekend of course, so KEXP and others are playing lots of great dancy music.

But not all of us go clubbing right? So for all of y’all ibuprofen-popping queers… #pride

For our last big protest on April 5, I was a protest medic. I loved being able to protect those working for change.

Remember even if you don’t have the fancy medical bag or EMT training — keep a look out for each other. It is praxis.

spent 11 years driving trucks at Cisco. They were a bit different than the 18 wheelers delivering hamburger buns and coffee, tho.

(My relatives made the same mistake constantly, though!)
