We really have to stop talking about how much public services ‘lose’ and should more accurately talk about how much they cost in comparison to other public services. I suspect the usps is a relative bargain.

The USPS faces a tight squeeze. With fewer people using the mail, it’s lost more and more money: $9 billion in the 12 months ending in September alone.

It’s taken less than a year of Trump being in office for Republicans to embrace being openly racist as policy and as a party.
Fine: "I'm talking to my colleagues about whether we want these fake Somali refugees - who come to our country, add no value, suck our resources, defraud our govt - whether we actually want them here. I don't think Ilhan Omar shouldn't be a member of Congress - I think she shouldn't be an American"

This picture makes my brain hurt because the salmon sweater’s arm is backwards.
A growing number of brands are making cashmere sweaters far more affordable. Is this cut-rate cashmere really worth buying, or is it a bad deal — no matter the price? To find out, we selected four inexpensive cashmere sweaters (our maximum budget was $100 a pop). Then we put them to the test.
We Tried Four Under-$100 Cashmere Sweaters. Here’s the One You Should Get.
We pitted four under-$100 cashmere sweaters against each other — and emerged with one soft, warm, luxurious-feeling winner.

"Get the principals on camera" is such a telling phrase here, because it tells us that for Weiss there's no world in which the victims of these horrific actions can actually be seen as the subjects of the story: They're background noise, and the people who matter are the ones sending them.
Weiss concluded: “We need to be able to make every effort to get the principals on the record and on camera. To me, our viewers come first, not a listing schedule or anything else. And that is my North Star, and I hope it's the North Star of every person in this newsroom.”

It's a shell game. Trump is taking money from soldiers' housing subsidies to "give" them $1,776 "warrior dividend" checks.

More than $2.9 billion in reconciliation funds was allocated to beef up troop housing allowances. Now it’s being used for $1,776 checks.

The insanity of this being an actual thing at the White House is staggering.
Per @garretthaake.bsky.social, the extremely tacky "presidential wall of fame" that lines the colonnade to the West Wing now has obviously-Trump-penned plaques insulting or praising the presidents.

Maybe we shouldn't have fucking slowwalked the whole thing then. Insane that we pinpoint ascentions to power to 2 or 3 pivotal moments where idiots were more worried about perceptions of decorum than doing the right thing.

Since 9/11, the FBI has spent a ton of resources effectively entrapping angry poor people into pretending they were engaging in a terrorist plot and then "stopping" the plot that never had any chance of being carried out. This is almost certainly another such case.
