Guys think women want a muscular, macho, wealthy man, but that's not true. Women just want a man who's kind and funny and clearly communicates his affection and is interested in her life and helped orchestrate the Dublin Lock-Out and is socialist 1916 Rising leader James Connolly

We're about a decade in to this weird narrative where apparently centrists will always be driven right by us on the left but are somehow magically never driven left by the far-right.

This young, self-seeded oak already has a couple of galls on its twigs, created by a tiny insect for its pupae. Nature's baubles in a rewilding landscape.

Happy Xmas, folks. May peace come for all our sisters + brothers enduring such horror and injustice in Gaza 🌍

You know who must be steaming about the rise of the far-right? Aontú.

Like, imagine dedicating yourself to normalising and being the acceptable face of reactionary fascism and then finding yourself promptly outflanked by a bunch of screaming semi-literate gremlins smeared in their own shit

I don't see how facial recognition technology would have stopped far-right thugs from burning asylum seekers' tents and terrorizing libraries earlier this year. Drew Harris could have stopped them, but chose not to. It's not new technology that we need.

Now that it's money rather than "just" minorities at risk they'll suddenly give a fuck
Not one fascist faced consequences for shutting down libraries, disrupting the housing of refugees, or burning refugees’ tents and possessions.

Authorities essentially held a “folks with reasonable concerns” line. Watch them do a 180 now that Arnotts has been looted

Who promoted these views? It's a mystery. In other news, here are some tweets from Gript over the last day or so.

No but seriously how can the gardaí justify them letting these people whip themselves up into this frenzy? They've been out on the streets for hours at this stage and just been given free reign when you could see this coming a mile off

I attended a Joint Policing Committee meeting for Dublin north central area back in May (?). The superintendents present were asked what plans they had to deal with the far right, who were terrorising East Wall at the time. They had no plans and seemed to find the question amusing.

I think we’ve learned an important lesson today, which is: If you ever run a media company, do not ever create a situation where your poetry editor might have cause to write a resignation letter, because it will scorch you from the face of the earth.
Anne Boyer has resigned as the poetry editor of the New York Times magazine: “Because our status quo is self-expression, sometimes all artists have left is to refuse. So I refuse.”
