The Trump administration is considering a radical overhaul of the U.S. refugee system that would slash the program and give preference to English speakers, white South Africans and Europeans who oppose migration. nyti.ms/4qjRk8b

Pritzer gets the mechanics of authoritarianism – systemic intimidation, seizing control of elections, etc. – in a way others in national democratic leadership don't or won't say out loud.
Pritzker: "One of the reasons Trump wants to send troops into cities is bc he wants to be able to take control of the 2026 elections...if they've got troops in cities, & it becomes a kind of norm for people, then it won't be abnormal for them when they're going to vote having troops at ballot boxes"

AOC: All in the name of Charlie Kirk, Trump and the FCC are now cynically threatening to shut down ABC and any outlets who give air time to the administration's political critics.

This is a disgusting attack on the American people and the very first amendment rights that define us as a country.

After years of complaining about cancel culture, the current administration has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn’t like.
Let’s be clear about what happened to Jimmy Kimmel

100% a false flag, come on

- days after Trump calls for guns to be taken from trans people
- Kirk shot while being asked about trans shootings
- military level shot, shooter escapes for nearly a whole day
- just so happens to have “trans ideology” engraved on the cartridges?

too convenient

Obviously covid explains the 2019–>2025 drop, but wtf happened from 1991–>2019?
Support for vaccinating kids against infectious diseases dropped from 81% in 1991 to 51% last year

We are getting dumber as a society

Gerrymandering is bad actually

And anyone, even governors, who are proposing this are playing a dangerous game that’ll further undermine democracy and further the race to the bottom of fascism

Are you referring to impeachment? Zero chance of that happening.
I tend to think he will ultimately be removed from office. But one way or another SOMETHING dramatic is going to happen and it can tilt a lot of different ways.

Are Newsom and Whitmer in a competition to see who can destroy their 2028 chances the fastest?
California has more super commuters than any other state, with over 300,000 people spending at least 3 hours a day on the road.

By using GenAI to pinpoint the worst traffic bottlenecks, we hope to find real solutions and make these commutes faster and easier.

What does “precarious position” mean in practical, concrete terms?

Impeachment? Never happening.

Bad midterms? He’s already ignoring Congress.

The courts? They have no enforcement mechanisms.

He’s term-limited and won’t face voters again—so what are we taking about…low approval ratings?

Crypto is poised to secure major legislative wins after years of frustration. Kirsten Gillibrand, the newly minted Senate Dem campaign chair, is a big reason why.
"Without her, it doesn't happen," said longtime partner Cynthia Lummis.

It is stunning how committed Trump is to removing American soft power, built up over generations.
“For the first time in 83 years, the storied Voice of America is being silenced,” Michael Abramowitz, the organization’s director, said

“VOA promotes freedom and democracy around the world … by providing objective and balanced news and information, especially for those living under tyranny.”

Schumer tells me Republicans might try to jam Democrats again in September, but thinks Trump will be less popular then and Republican appropriators might be more willing to stand up to him. He said they refused to do so now.

You will not understand MAGA/Trumpism until you understand how many Americans are domestic abusers or grew up in abusive environments. Trump sits in at the top of the dominance heirarchy for them in a way that does not make sense to those of us who grew up in healthy families.
