This week's work is now finished. Creating something new is really hard work. This week in particular, I had many different experiences. Right now, I feel like a traveler. I am stepping into an unknown world before my eyes. I can only pray that someday I will find the light I am aiming for ahead.

Can you even imagine.
- Free movement, free trade, free people
- Crushing middlemen, scammers, rentiers
- Countercyclical macro
- Universal care state
- Social compact for public investment
- Public franchises for universal service provisioning
- Democratic alliances + integrated markets abroad
going to create a bit that america never had its bourgeois revolution like nairn used to argue about the UK
I love the notion that a shareholder who owns 14.9% of a public company is going on a "legal fishing expedition" by asking for the books.

That's the real issue here: Delaware's corporate laws are capitalist. Alternatives like Nevada & Texas offer management the crony/corruption model they want.

"Burn it all down" is a natural political instinct in situations where the social ladder is completely ossified and that's why the biggest redshifts of 2024 were in blue states with NIMBY-controlled housing policy.

And that is one thing Trump actually has delivered: upending American stability.
the internet: left-nimbys don't exist and they can't destroy your state

left-nimbys:
"In her first hearing as housing committee chair last month, she proclaimed that it’s time for California to 'move away from just development, development, development' and also stated 'transit-oriented development doesn’t necessarily work.'" 🥴

It cannot be overstated how insane and dangerous this argument is. They're saying that the government can illegally abduct and imprison people—and even admit that it screwed up!—and then remove the ability of any court to intervene by shipping the victim to a foreign gulag.
If the Supreme Court decides that the government can "erroneously" disappear you off the street to a foreign torture prison, and that federal courts have no power to do anything about it, that is, in a meaningful way, Pretty Much It www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/24...

Dear Representative Pressley:
Thank you for noticing this. However, please don’t portray it as a unique wrong done to this person. The American penal system (and immigration system) are deathtraps with appalling lack of medical care, indifference, and cruelty.

🚨UPDATE: Rümeysa Öztürk has now suffered three separate asthma attacks while in DHS custody.

She has not received her required asthma medications—a violation of her fundamental right to medical care.

This is cruelty, it is neglect, and it is a damning moral and legal failure.

I keep watching this clip with something approaching yearning and I’m realizing it’s because we don’t hear this level of strategic realism—that the old world is gone and the old rules don’t apply—from anyone in leadership in the Democratic Party.

JB Pritzker is good at politics in a way that should not be exceptional but now is, and that's 99% of the goddamn problem.

This has nothing to do with his positions on specific issues, but his attitude and approach to what the basic job of an elected official is.

U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

Important note about this breakthrough:

Literally would not exist without the kind of Federal support the current administration is slashing.

Took 15+ years of research at a federal lab (Lawrence Berkeley) to get this to a point at which private enterprise could take over and make these at scale.
Thanks to Steve Jobs and Gorilla Glass, factories in America are now ramping up to make affordable windows, made from panes thinner than a credit card, that can:

* save Americans $25 billion / year

* withstand a 2x4 shot out of a cannon

They claim they can snatch people up, put them on planes, and deport them to a country run by an authoritarian, where those people will be forced to work slave labor at an inhumane prison. All without due process, and in defiance of federal courts.

The hypotheticals are over. This is the nightmare.
