“The New York Times collaborated with a white nationalist eugenicist hacker and agreed to keep his identity a secret to publish a Zohran Mamdani hit piece” is a way bigger story than “18 year old Zohran Mamdani ticked ‘African American’ on his Columbia application because he was a citizen of Uganda”

In a less imperfect world, Musk and Trump would be forever cast as killers of children, and this would be front-page news for months and the subject of Sunday sermons in every church.
NEW: The death shadow cast by Musk.

“When U.S.-supported soup kitchens were forced to close, babies starved quietly, their mothers said, while older siblings died begging for food.”

The world’s richest man did this to the world’s poorest children.

Don’t ever forget.
In Sudan, where children clung to life, doctors say USAID cuts have been fatal
The Trump administration’s cuts to USAID had an immediate and deadly impact in war-ravaged Sudan, according to civilians, doctors and aid officials.

I’m seeing all these debates here about whether violence can be justified in some circumstances. That’s not helpful. It is beside the point. This is a battle over legitimacy and the field of that battle is public opinion. This is a flagrant abuse of power. It is a crisis entirely of the Presidents..

Across the U.S., state security officials and violence prevention advocates have reached the same conclusion: The federal government has retreated from the fight against extremist violence, which for years had been a top priority for the FBI.

“The Federal Government Is Gone”: Under Trump, the Fight Against Extremist Violence Is Left Up to the States
As the White House redirects counterterrorism personnel and funds toward mass deportations, a state-level scramble is on to preserve efforts once supported by Washington. The result is a patchwork…

Trump: My regime is ignoring the Constitution, rulings of the Supreme Court and the laws of Congress. We’re arresting Democratic elected officials for doing their official duties. We’re illegally destroying the federal government.

Senate Democrats: We’ve written another strongly worded letter!
Senators Cantwell, Blumenthal, Markey, and Hickenlooper and I called on President Trump to reverse his decision to illegally fire three Consumer Product Safety Commissioners. This is about protecting the American people and being able to trust that products are safe.

One of the wilder political things in recent history is that Project 2025 publicly released a 900 page document laying out their plans to roll back 100 years of human progress and then during the campaign Republicans just said "no we're not :)" and then they won and now they're doing it all.

A new study models the impact of the implosion of U.S.-funded disease treatment and prevention in the developing world — and suggests that Elon Musk and Marco Rubio will go down as among history’s greatest monsters if funding and effective administration are not restored.
Count the Dead by the Millions
From HIV and tuberculosis infections to millions of dead children, the deadly impact of Rubio, Musk and Trump’s agenda has been quantified.

Many/most manufacturing “jobs” that could be onshored will go to robots/AI.

As 25% of factory jobs in China are expected to be in next few years.

Our entire discussion on this is fighting the last war.

The irony of Americans electing a fascist because they were more concerned about getting lower grocery prices than saving democracy and then they end up losing democracy AND getting higher grocery prices 🤦🏽‍♂️
Coffee, shrimp, other foods could soar with Trump tariffs
The food hit hardest, if the tariffs take effect, is mostly not grown or harvested in the U.S.

Man it is really hard to be living in the USA right now and getting news about how South Korea deposed their president for staging a coup and then their Supreme Court just said yup, definitely the right thing to do there.

On the tariff front, this doesn’t get discussed much in the news. But the President has zero power to do tariffs. Entirely a Congress power. There is a law which allows the President to impose tariffs on an emergency basis. All of this is based on that law.

Columbia University sold out to fascists and brutally cracked down on kids whose only sin was opposing genocide.

The fascists threw the University under the bus anyway.

I feel like there's a lesson in there about complying with fascism.

People seem to forget that the human body is essentially unchanged from when life expectancy was 35 years. The difference today is education, vaccines, environmental regulations, weather forecasting and all the other things the Trump administration is now obliterating.

I sincerely do not think people understand the liberation women DO have is so new. We could only open bank accounts in 1974 without a male co signer. Some of the people passing anti-woman legislation were alive when we couldn't have bank accounts and they liked it better that way.

Just me, personally, but if I was this wrong about what a movement would do with power, I'd reevaluate my affiliation with them.
