@noamchompers.bsky.social just told @oldjerryfodor.bsky.social's grad seminar that he's "familiar with the internet" and I, for one, am glad to see a philosopher saying something noncontroversial

Don't forget to submit your philosophy and psychology papers to SSPP 2026 in Atlanta! It's going to be a banger.

it's only a postdoc if it's from the postdocque region of France. otherwise, it's just sparkling precarity.
I know BlueSky has problems with humour so just to be clear: I, like everyone else, am aware that postdocs aren't real. I'm not spreading misinformation when I refer to them as if they exist, they're jokes and everyone knows that. Chill, ok?

@agholdier.bsky.social - Gotta thank you openly while also trying to boost awareness of this incredible book! I read one of the chapters about JL Austin’s ‘How to Do Things with Words’ and it was so well written that I’m now 2 chapters deeper and just thoroughly enthralled 🤩 great philosophy here!

What people imagine philosophy twitter was like:

"I hate everyone who is not my particular brand of leftist"
"I do too, and I will nuke everyone who is different"

What it was actually like:

"I am depressed"
"So am I"
"Thick concepts? No: T H I C C concepts"
"Good morning I am sad"

After the FBI denied "children were zip-tied or hit with rubber bullets" in a raid in Wilder, Idaho, the FBI said no "young" children were.

The updated statement came after KIVI-TV sent FBI photo reportedly showing 14-year-old U.S. citizen in zip ties.

I wonder if Dutch philosophy departments in the 1630s were only hiring in the philosophy of tulips.
One might also say "hiring committees".

Since the FBI's new challenge coin is again making the Punisher logo politically relevant, here's something I wrote in 2022 about Wittgenstein, symbols, and cultural contexts:

Just read a footnote in a (great!) paper that apologized for using a "pop culture reference" (to Tywin Lannister from ASoIaF/Game of Thrones).

What are more examples of philosophers referencing "low" art (vs. something like Shakespeare or a Bach concerto)?
