Born in Montreal in 1952, he coached 1,019 games in the NHL from 1988 to 2004. His teams reached the post-season 11 out of 14 seasons and he won three Jack Adams Awards and a Stanley Cup. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2014.
