Elon is a bullshit artist but some people are letting negative polarization rewrite their brain to become against objectively good things that he has unfortunately branded himself as being associated with. Actually working self driving cars are obviously good and will likely save many lives.

If the Washington Post actually cared that one of their own journalists was murdered, it’d be something that informed and colored all of their reporting on Trump.

Instead, they stick to access journalism while penning the occasional perfunctory essay to pretend they give a shit.

At the end of the day, trump was being prosecuted in multiple venues and it all fell apart because court conservatives (with an assist from moderates and liberals) decided he was a special birthday boy who was above accountability.

The speediest AG would’ve run into the exact same wall
Its popular on this site to blame everything for Trumps return on Merrick Garland, but if it werent for the singular interetence by John Roberts on Trumps behalf, Trump would have been tried and almost certainly convicted over Jan 6th in late summer/early fall before the election.
Chief Justice John Roberts rigged our democracy, helped Trump retake power, and is now discarding legal and constitutional constraints on Trump's actions.

But Roberts needs Trump, too. This symbiotic relationship means there is no hope for course correction.

New — I wrote about the myriad ways journalism’s moral rot manifests, and how our crumbling institutions have created the conditions for it to fester:
Moral rot in elite journalism is killing the whole field
The Nuzzi/RFK Jr. mess and the revelation of Esptein's journo pals lay bare a profound moral absence at the heart of our free press.

given that Hunter pissing off Jake Tapper arguably fueled a significant chunk of Tapper-led hatred towards Joe, I would 1000% believe that Nuzzi's Georgetown dinner party set wanted his presidency to fail because they were pissed at Hunter on her behalf

What makes a banana republic a banana republic is not any prosecution of the outgoing administration, but baseless, politically motivated prosecution. There is a whole literature which teaches that, if crimes against the public order occurred, failing to prosecute them hastens democratic decline.

Everyone loves Prince Cheddward! The cheesy prince shaped like a Cheez-It!

*5 seconds later*

We regret to report that Prince Cheddward was a frequent visitor to Epstein island, was stripped of all titles and is now Cheddward Mountbatten-Windsor.
Happy to report: they heard our cries and after 3 years on the sideline Prince Cheddward is BACK for the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl this year!

lol. I helped elect Sheldon Whitehouse (“A Whitehouse you can trust”) in 06 while being neck deep in dem campaign politics for the better part of my life and this is the first I’ve heard of 6 for 06

Clearly hanging out with the “wrong” consultants
E.g. on point 1: the consultant class fondly remembers the "6 for '06" plan of moderate policy ideas Dems ran on in their successful 2006 midterm campaign. But what actually caused the bottom to fall out of GOP polling was the Mark Foley scandal in September which has been basically memory-holed
1. Scandal politics win elections pretty often.

2. THIS scandal divides the GOP more than affordability or really anything.

3. If Dems want to win the fight (pry the files loose, rather than give up after Trump says no) they need to make a referendum out of it. www.offmessage.net/p/force-a-re...
