I once knew a Federal bank examiner, and one time someone asked him why we had to KEEP inspecting banks over and over. He basically said every new batch of business school grads invents bank fraud from first principles.
AirBnB CEO calling it “vibe revenue” just 👨‍🍳 😘

The underlying cause of every bubble - debt masquerading as financial innovation - depends on not just short financial memory & speculative neophytism, but reinventing jargon of finance, like how each generation of kids has new ways to say same things.

I enjoyed Train Dreams. It really did feel like an entire life crystallized in film form.

My god, GDT's Frankenstein puts you through an emotional wringer, on top of being smart and visually stunning. What a film.

We should talk more about how conservatives were massive crybabies about the new lightbulb regulations and yet it ended up great and I basically never have to change lightbulbs.

I think one of the greatest losses of social media is no one knows how to muse anymore. You can't surface a curiosity without someone citing a fucking podcast, reel or youtube video. Rich thought is subsidized by "smart content I agree with". Everyone just reverberates the media they follow

Stop Caring is, to be frank, one of the best websites covering video games right now. Artemis created something incredible and it - and she - deserves support. So you know what you gotta do, right?
Last week, my former housemate punched me multiple times in the eye, forcing me to break the lease for the beautiful apartment we shared and move in with a trusted friend

As I try to rebuild my life and find more permanent housing, I would greatly appreciate any support you could offer Stop Caring

A publication about video games focused on the ways they evoke unique cultural conversations as well as the personal lessons we can learn from them as artistic media.

one of the underrated factors for the rise in scamming across U.S. society is the death of local media.
It gets lost in the shuffle, but the Speaker of the House is someone who, by all rights, should’ve had his career ended a decade ago by a Shreveport TV news investigative team.
Fond memories of that time Mike Johnson was president of a local law school that never opened its doors, in part because it was attached to a Baptist college that was losing its accreditation, and in part because it was always a scam from the start

Bugs are cool (horrifying).
Queens of some ant species have evolved an unusually hostile mode for colony takeover: they infiltrate colonies of other ant species and manipulate the worker ants into killing their own queen — their mother — then accepting the intruding queen as their new leader, according to a recent study.

It’s fun to think about the surgeon who will botch your surgery 20 years from now and what he’s doing at this moment. He just ran all his homework through ChatGPT. He just read that article about vaccines and autism at the CDC website. He just watched an Instagram video about the moon landing hoax.

I'm intrigued when people criticize something as "boring," because it's often un-self-aware shorthand for "doesn't align with my interests." And if such a person dubs something boring, I'm positive there's good stuff to be found in there!

Ironically, if we actually treated the actual seditious behavior of the Jan. 6 coup with the severity it deserved, we would have never had to see social media posts like this ever again.
Trump posts again about Democrats, saying their behavior is “punishable by DEATH!”

Worth the read even if DeviantArt was never your thing: "If I were a novice artist today, my only way to contribute would be to upload a picture, like some posts of artists I already follow, and hope to god that others would do the same in return. And that, my friends, is how an art community dies."
