It’s easy to see why Trump wants to destroy the world’s number one news source. We can’t let him.
The BBC belongs to all of us here in the UK.
The Prime Minister and leaders from across the political spectrum should be united in telling Trump to keep his hands off it.

It would not be OK if Elon Musk was a radical leftist who put algorithms in to feed everyone messages of revolution, or an Islamist who made it send out Jihadist messages, or even a lovely cuddly hippie who made it promote peace love and understanding.

Vital piece of investigative reporting from Sky. They've uncovered the X algorithm which feeds users extremist right wing material from the moment they join the site. It is a far-right radicalisation engine, by design.

Anecdote alert, but a couple of years ago, discussing Brexit/Rejoin with my daughter (then aged c20) she said it wouldn't be a factor in her voting intention, because although she wanted to rejoin she just didn't think anyone in power cared.
and a lot of other things messing up the economy - just all seems a bit -- late?
The government has finally decided it can talk about the economic impact of Brexit.
But that simply exposes the limits of its plans to deal with Brexit’s consequences, says @jillongovt.bsky.social www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/comment/rach...

Exit poll for Dutch elections here.
I’ve no idea how accurate Dutch exit polls are but this puts D66 (roughly Dutch equivalent of UK Lib Dems - the VVD “liberals” are more like UK old school Tories) as biggest single party.
Will this get the same UK headlines as when the Eurofash PVV came 1st?

And 6 weeks later echoed Gill's Putin-friendly talking points in Parliament.

Notice how the right despise people who work hard in underpaid jobs.

Tory policy is to revoke permanent residence (ILR) for everybody who does not earn £38k - deporting most nurses who have ILR
This is put in the video as "who is unlikely to contribute more than they cost"
NB: video does not say EU settled status is exempt
No govt since Idi Amin has done this

Killer quote here, and more grist to the "close down the Home Office" mill.
To quote an official from an unnamed European capital:
"Britain’s relationship with us isn’t just made in the Foreign Office or the Ministry of Defence, it is made in the Home Office.”
"Britain’s relationship with us isn’t just made in the Foreign Office or the Ministry of Defence, it is made in the Home Office.”
The view in Brussels was that was essentially what they were doing and that’s why there are retaliation clauses in the final treaty. The assumption was that the UK, and particularly the home office, couldn’t be trusted.

I genuinely find this very worrying, as someone with settled status! sure, Lam probably won't be home secretary tomorrow, but the mood music is changing, you can feel it, and I just don't trust Labour to fight like hell on our behalf, so unclear where this is going to go
Lam hears "settled status" and "guaranteed by withdrawal treaty" as up for grabs:understood to be temporary "provisional arrangements" which can be transitional and unsettled if and when you want to
That is highly counterintuitive as language of 'settled', as law & as politics of Treaty guarantees.

Everybody: please stop mentioning that Farage was regularly on Russia Today, a channel now banned for its Russian propaganda content, blamed the EU for Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2014, had a Russian spy running his Welsh operation, and built his whole career on a policy Putin supports.
Farage is doing a big media push to deny he has any links with Putin and Russia.
