thank you chuck schumer 🫡 as so called political experts warned "you have no pants on" and "your whole ass is hanging out," it took incredible resolve to stand up and say, "Damn right my ass is hanging out! It's hanging out for the AMERICAN PEOPLE to look at. I like when everyone has to see it."

Q: It's election day in NYC. Did you vote for Mamdani or Cuomo?

Schumer: "Look, I voted, and I look forward to working with the next mayor to help NYC."

I don't know what will happen in NYC tonight, but I do know that regardless of outcome, any number of public figures, celebrities, politicians and institutions that oppose Mamdani have done so with a level of rhetorical ugliness, racism, and dishonesty that should neither be forgotten nor forgiven.

the fundamental central operating premise of this entire dominant ecosystem of what passes for the institutional "left" in this country is that you must carefully calibrate what you believe in light of what you perceive certain demographics to believe. but what wins elections is believing in shit

There’s no reasonable way to explain this policy change except bald racial preference. Any reporting on it worth its salt should really say that.

I dunno… after looking up images of this thing I’m kind of with Emma. Seems plausible that this just looked like a skull and crossbones

Trust me, I’m very wary of this race producing a Fetterman or worse, and of course knowingly selecting a Nazi tattoo is immediately disqualifying. But yeah i dunno
who among us hasn’t gotten an accidental nazi symbol tattooed across our chest and then kept it for 18 years accidentally while campaigning for us senator?

When is it not unseemly for us to work up the lather
Maybe this is the one I should just pin and tap the sign when people show up in a lather
Trump is a fascist threat; I've said it many times. I merely refuse to join many of you in your fever-dream that the United States is now a fascist regime when it's not even a Hungarian or Turkish regime. I want people to be sober-minded and determined, not hysterical and ineffective.

A top Mamdani adviser tells me internal data shows taking on Trump's authoritarian abuses resonates. It appeals to working class voters across all demographics, countering the frequent claim that this is a "distraction" from issues working people "really" care about.

It's important to understand that many people at the top of US journalism genuinely aren't interested in American history or politics. So that's not their skill set. What they do care about it, and are good at, is going to fancy DC parties.
This @washingtonpost.com editorial doesn’t make it past the second paragraph without a glaring (and telling) factual error.

President Washington didn’t create the War Department in 1789; *Congress* did:

Incredible that they’ve successfully created a media environment around Trump where he has absolutely no chance of being asked about this straightforward connection (that his immigration and economic policies have harmed and will continue to harm the housing market)
Weird, putting tariffs on construction materials and throwing day laborers in concentration camps should have solved the supply problem by now
